When there aren't job openings for people in an educated field, typically for reasons such as "lacking experience", you take what you can get.

This is ******** .
You don't have to work a ****** job with a degree. Yes, even with Celtic Studies or Gender Studies. The mistake is not graduating, but to think that graduating is all you have to do. It's a big part, but not everything. There are other things like dedication, interest, constant self-improvement, networking and so on.
A degree gives you legs, but you have to walk for yourself.

I'm going for a Art Degree and theres a lot of jobs available to us. To the uneducated swine, fine arts is the degree that guarantees a McDonalds job. Not all art majors are useless.

I'm doing Illustration in September and I go to a University where 98% of students come out and get a job in the 6 months after they graduate.
I think I'm doing okay.

those statistics the college gathers of getting a "job" after 6 months don't include in-field positions, most of them include working minimum wage jobs.

I didn't get to graduate high school, albeit I would have graduated at 16.
It's a long story, but I wouldn't have dropped out if I had a choice.

But I make a pretty decent living, by myself. I'm a machinist. And I self taught most of what qualifies me for my job.

Thing is, I still really want to go to college. Biology, science, I love this **** . I kept top grades all through school and I think I'd do pretty well.

I just can't afford it. I help support my mum and three younger siblings on top of my own expenses.

>be me
>be 15
>get job at a Chick-Fil-A
>start off making $7.25 at 8 hours a week
>barely making $100 in two weeks
>fast forward 3 years to the present
>be 18 now
>still working at CFA
>making $9 an hr, with 18~hrs a week
>I'm the only worker who doesn't text/ gossip
>actually stay committed to assigned position instead of dicking around 80% of the time (IE Register, Fries, etc.)
>have opportunity to move in with older sister and guaranteed job as delivery-boy making $80-$100 a night
>parents completely against it
>I haven't been able to get my car in my name yet

MFW if I try to leave without my parent's consent, they might report my car as stolen.

I just want to break away from the Fast Food industry.
Hell, if I'm paying for everything myself (even my own birthday/ christmas presents), then I might as well go for a higher paying job.

Can we all agree that having a job at a fast food restaurant during your highschool years (9th-12th grade) isn't that bad? or am i just kidding myself?

College, an ever growing tuition of debt each year. Start with a junior college, that way your debt will be lowered and easier to pay back once you reach the last two years of school

>"i'm not commuting for that"
>stupid transfer credits screwed up my schedule
>was stuck at state college for 3.5 yrs
>on the bright side i got an extra degree
>finish college career with 2 A.S degrees and a bachelor, all engineering, 2 specifically for mechanical
>apply for a position at a local business (did some internships for them back in senior yr of high school)
