I do not believe that it matters but I have a platonic affection to how this picture is over simplifying the process of nature of your daily required nutrients and minerals turning into a mix of methane and various other gasses that co-operate with bacteria in your digestive system to produce an odor which most people would associate discomfort with , exaggerating it into a matter of a genocide upon even the largest land based mammals on earth.

TL;DR I like how you can make a fart joke about the content

it's funny because scientists discovered petroleum isn't made from dinosaurs afterall, it's plant matter not animal.
User avatar #81 to #68 - charagrin (09/07/2013) [-]
It is a mixture of biological matter, primarily plant. But dino's, mammals, and insects, are all present as well in the matrix.
User avatar #82 to #81 - bobsagget (09/07/2013) [-]
as a matter of fact, the bacteria that exists within the digestive tract of living animals causes the organic tissue to break down and decompose long before the fossilization process can occur. in other words, oil does not contain animal flesh. peat is, however, another story.
User avatar #83 to #82 - charagrin (09/07/2013) [-]
The same bacteria types are present in all biologic life, plants or animal. All are effected equally by time, and all fossilize, UNLESS that matter seeps into the soil during decomposition and/or is buried and compressed along with other biologic waste over millions of years.

So take your regular plastic dinosaur toy. what's it made of? Plastic. What's plastic made of? Crude oil. What's that made of?
*********** DINOSAURS
You heard me, your toy T-rex is 100% no doubt definitely made from the decayed body of a real T-rex
#60 - achsaf (09/01/2013) [-]
so are just going to ignore the fact that the dino is literalyy melting. i mean it takes millions of years for their bodies to form into oil so the black **** around his lower half is his body literaly melting off of him

Its so funny because gasoline is a liquid
#61 to #36 - infested (09/01/2013) [-]
Actually, gasoline is virtually useless in its liquid state. To be burned it has to be in gaseous form

I get the joke, but it is really bugging me when the "gas" we use today is a liquid.

dead things left for a long time turn to oil?

okay so how long before usa invades that graveyard in france with the hundreds of thousands of WW2 casualties drilling the mass of dead for oil
User avatar #13 to #12 - vatra (09/01/2013) [-]
Approximately 65 million years from now.
User avatar #14 to #13 - konradkurze ONLINE (09/01/2013) [-]
and by then usa will have filled up enough graveyards with dead arabs to have a reserve supply
User avatar #15 to #14 - vatra (09/01/2013) [-]
By that point, HOPEFULLY oil will be obsolete. Or humans won't be around anymore.
User avatar #26 to #15 - lurg (09/01/2013) [-]
hopefully the latter, eh? **** humans
User avatar #27 to #26 - vatra (09/01/2013) [-]

oh, indeed.
User avatar #16 to #15 - konradkurze ONLINE (09/01/2013) [-]
well at first glance i think itwill end up like this FPS game i played where oil become so scarce that major wars are fought over the last remaining supplies (coincidentally i think it was themed allied nations vs a russian/arab union)

then after that, the last dregs of oil will be saved solely for the rich and the military/police while the general population will be forced into stuff like bicycles/horses etc...or public transport will run on state controlled supplies of renewable energy

i think it would be better if humans had WW3 **** everything up, and had to start again from scratch rather than living in a totalitarian state system
User avatar #17 to #16 - vatra (09/01/2013) [-]
I don't see it going that way. I see by the time oil gets scarce enough to actually care, there won't be a true need to it anymore. The only ones that are going to raise hell are the oil companies because they will slowly go bankrupt unless they invest in other energy methods.
User avatar #19 to #17 - konradkurze ONLINE (09/01/2013) [-]
well one angle to it would be, that the oil companies will lose power and the natural fuler methods will become more popular by necessity

with nestle already trying to push for privatizing fresh water....how long before they pounce on any natural plants that can be converted into sustainable fuel

either oil companies expanding into natural fuels or food companies doing it....we'll still have our power sources held in the iron grip of tyrants
User avatar #20 to #19 - vatra (09/01/2013) [-]
I don't doubt that. I'm just saying it won't be oil for too much longer.
User avatar #21 to #20 - konradkurze ONLINE (09/01/2013) [-]
well there will be other means of fuel,,and they will quickly come under corporate control

those who hold the reigns of power will stop at nothing to keep holding on
