If it's a 4 digit code, the number of possibilities is 4! = 24. However it could be longer than that, 6 digit, 8 digit, 10. If you were to guess it, it would still take a pretty long time.
Well, actually considering the burn markings you can either assume it's 0971 or 1790. Yeah it's not backed by mathematics but people tend to press the last button hardest making the last button burnt the most.
seriously? so, if the last digit is 0, then we have 3! possibilities (with the zero locked), that's six, and we throw in the 1-ended versions, also six, we only narrowed it down by half (if what you're suggesting is true)
no, because if the numbers repeat, then the area of the buttons wouldn't be burnt out. the numbers could (actually, they must) repeat if the code is longer than 4 digits, with 5 digits, 2 numbers must repeat (for example 17990), with 6, two separate numbers could repeat (199770) or we could have a triple (199970), etc.
Oh yeah. My brain didn't seem capable enough of thinking it's way to that. I was wondering how to reach 24, but didn't want to put in too much effort.
Thanks for clarifying.
or perhaps the code really is 358 and OP is a super smart, mind-game playing, secret spy that intentionally made four numbers appear to be worn away, when in actuality the numbers "3,5, and 8" are hidden fingerprint scanners for the middle finger, thumb, and pinkie. Meanwhile the numbers "1,7,0, and 9" if pressed in any order release a odorless gas that incapacitates one through inhalation or absorption and opens a 5'x5' trap door that leads to a miniplex cinema that only has one movie playing on repeat......TWILIGHT!!!!!!
That would be correct, but there also is the fact that numbers can be repeated. it would be 4 (24), but there are other numbers such as 0000 that are possible
The gym at my school has installed lockers with settable code locks. My friend and I went there the other day and he got a locker to put our stuff in. Our conversation went as follows:
Me: I like the new lockers, now we don't have to worry about someone stealing our stuff.
Him: You can put your stuff in my locker if you want, I just put in a code. *then he jokingly said* Not even you could figure it out.
Me: Is it 1994? (his birth year)
Him: Get out. Just get the **** out of here.
