as a christian, i can honestly agree with you, many religious folk tend to blindly go about things without any knowledge of what they are talking about, some reject modern science altogether without realizing that science and religion to a certain extent go hand-in-hand. The bible, which some treat as law of the land, is more a guideline for living than a rigid set of rules cast in stone. the deeper meaning in it is to love your fellow man, which many do so happily seem to gloss over. As for its accuracy, well, what do you expect from a two thousand year old book compiled and written by dozens of different people? there's bound to be contradictions, fallacies, and outright lies, after all, we are fallible human beings and even the 'purest' among us are bound to **** up.

my little brother goes to church and stuff, i don't, im not religious. but a cartoon tv show says that dinosaurs lived 65 million years ago, and he corrects the show by saying "nope, it was 6000" i looked at him and asked if he was retarded... i pointed out Jesus lived 2000 years ago, and there were people before him... he said "nuh uh, no one lived before Jesus" and I just gave up, because this tells me he hasn't even read the bible he is preaching

Well, simply put, the bigger the population, the bigger the number of stupid - let's say the percentage stays the same (10% of stupid for example). Bit of math - if there's a population of 100 000 people - 10 000 will be braindead stupid. Lets say those 100 000 are religious, and let's add 10 000 atheists. In all 110 000. out of wich 10 000 stupid religious fags and 1000 stupid atheist fags. Ofcourse the voice of 10 000 will be heard louder than the voice of 1000. sooo, you're right.

Because those are people less prone to critical thinking. A lot of people raised religiously abandon their religion because as they develop critical thinking, the religion falls short, meaning many of the smarter people weed themselves out of the religion.

I'd say it's just more widely reported when a religious person is an idiot. When a religious person is stupid, it can be pinned on their religious beliefs. Atheists, by definition, don't have any religious beliefs. Any beliefs or opinions they have are not related or restricted to atheism. Also, there are bound to be more stupid religious people than stupid atheists because there are more religious people than atheists.

The unfortunate truth is that religion creates stupidity. Now I do not want to come across as biased, I am merely stating my observations. I don't want to write an essay, so here is my argument in a nutshell:

Religion teaches you that you are Right if you conform, which means you are not encouraged to think for yourself. Notions of superiority breed impulsiveness and stubbornness. As someone once said, "It takes a certain amount of intelligence to realize that you are stupid". If they have been brought up all their life to believe that their way of living is the right one, they will never stop to think about it, because they won't know how.

I used to get those plants, tear a piece off at the stem, and pretend to shoot a machine gun while sliding my fingers down the rows of little leaves on them, which, if you've ever encountered these you'll know, make them fall off and fall to the ground quickly, making them a good weapon in a war with sticks as guns.
Also, you'd have the coolest gun because there are actual SHELLS leaves hitting the ground to prove that you're putting a hole into some Nazis (Or Vietcong, Russkies, or even jihadists, depending on what time period my friends and I decided upon). I also just nostolg'd and I'm missing those days when everything was so much simpler.
