It was an other time. I would post a picture of the fattest man on earth some decades ago... if I had one you would see him in comparision with an average cop. If I remember right they were supposed to be the same in terms of size, but the cop was still a little fatter.

It's cyclical. Curvy is "in" now. Before about 1780 curves were always in, then 1780-1820 a flatter look was in, then curves were back for the Victorian era, then a flatter look in the early 1900s before back to curves in the late 00s and 1910s, then from around 1922 to 1931, women wanted to look skinny, flat, boyish, even binded their chests to have smaller boobs. Then in the 30s through the 50s, curvy came back, then skinny was in with Twiggy in the 60s and 70s, then curvy came back for the 80s, then skinny for the 90s and early 00s, then curvy. But it may be swinging back to skinny. I remember men started saying they liked curviness again starting around 2003 or 2004. Again, it's cyclical.

It's kind of strange how fashion has gotten us to this point. 100 years or less ago, obese men were considered attractive because they obviously were rich enough to eat well which signalled success. Muscular and skinny men were just as obviously poor. And what men really wanted in a woman back then were wide hips / fat ass. That signalled fecundity and less chance of dying in childbirth. And just 60 years ago a tan was seen as something ugly.
These days we're supposed to be muscular, skinny, tan and preferably shaved all over except for the head and people see that as natural attractiveness. Smh.

Not only that, if you where white and had a tan, it meant you worked hard labor and being pale was considered being so wealthy you barely had to go outside. Whereas today you are pale you have a poor social life or work in an office constantly and if you have a tan you have a rich social life and have the free time to be at the beach(or the money to pay for a fake tan)

rubbish, they weren't considered attractive, they were respected more yes, but not attractive. The rules of attractiveness (taking away fashion which always changes) have always been the same since we could walk on two legs. If you were fat it meant you were rich not attractive. The same way if you have a suit of gold it makes you rich, not attractive.

people look for things that are difficult to achieve in mated because it shows strength and persistence. nowadays it is easy to be fat and pale, all you have to do is stay inside and not exercise. back in the day it was difficult to be fat and pale, which is what made it attractive to people.

It's the opposite of the work standard. People now mainly work inside, so those who have time to tan and work out are considered attractive vs back then most people had hard jobs that involved manual labor, so being pale and a bit chubby was considered attractive.
