Dude, I have both the Vita and a 3DS XL, I prefer the Vita, I just do (At least for just gaming).

BUT, the vita's games are mostly **** (Unfortunately), because no-one wants to put attention on the least sold console, just because the 3DS is the cheapest it's the most sold, it's like the PS3 and the Xbox 360, PS3 is obviously superior, but the Xbox got more games cause it was the cheapest, and most people bought it, so looking to turn in a profit, games went to Xbox.

Though I can't say I'm dissatisfied with the 3DS, it's a beaut, I love it, it's games are wonderful, Nintendo is wonderful, but I prefer the Vita, but, unfortunately, no game has been able to do justice to it, and most, of the small variety of games, are ****, thus the PSVita is an underrated piece of **** on the market atm.

My point is, the Vita is great, it's just, it doesn't actually "rule", and games that came out for earlier consoles do not technically count as Vita games.

Thus, Vita is best (for a great gameplay experience), but 3DS is cheaper, and has more games, plus fun things to do occasionally besides just playing games.

So the 3DS rules, for now.

My bro was telling me that they got rid of the clamshell design because it was designed for children and the most common part to break was at the hinges so they got rid of it. It makes sense to me. I honestly don't even touch the 3d feature on my 3ds.

yea on my ds lite the hinge broke and everything else was just fine, no matter what that would happen no matter how well you make the hinge, it being so compact, i just wish they would have thought of something else than just a square
they did need something that was lower priced since not that many people wanted the 3d feature and just wanted to play the (awesome) games for the console

somehow I knew a lot of people would bitch about this... Its for younger kids! That's why they got rid of the folding because its less likely to break that way, and they got rid of the 3D so it doesn't damage little kids still developing eyes! They also dropped the price $50, so now maybe families who couldn't afford a 3ds can afford a 2ds! No ones making you buy this!

Graphics wise it's a big upgrade compared to the DSi or DS Lite. The analog stick means more control over a character in games, and other features like miis, streetpass and spotpass, nintendo zones, and game exclusives are all what makes the 3DS and 2DS far better than it's previous handheld systems. The only one-up the 2DS has really is the lower price.

Can you not jump to conclusions like that please?
I didn't say that at all. Neither did the content, which is my entire point.
You didn't understand my comment at all, did you?
I'm saying it is useful, just ugly. Doesn't mean it's all that matters, but that doesn't change the fact that it's ugly. The content didn't say it was useless or anything; just unpleasant looking.
You could have an ugly chick with an awesome personality; if I say she's ugly, it doesn't mean it's all that counts. Her personality is great. Doesn't make her aesthetically appealing. The same applies here.

Then why did you mention it at all, if it has such an insignificant impact on the overall quality of the machine?
User avatar #459 to #434 - bladebites
Reply 0 123456789123345869
(08/30/2013) [-]
Because it's the entire point of the actual content. Deny it all you want, but the graphics in a game, as well as the physical appearance of a person are important. Not the most important, not insignificant. You seem to have a problem meeting this point halfway; you keep acting like it's either black or white, either the most important thing or, I quote, "all that matters", or "tiny and insignificant".
There is a gray area, and that gray area is where this lies: not the most important, but significant nonetheless.
The content said it was ugly and I agreed, that is why I mentioned it. The only unrelated statement thus far has been the original commenter's need to justify how useful the device is, as no one said it wasn't.

What I'm saying is it shouldn't matter at all. What should matter is the game content, because an asthenically pleasing game with ****** story/gameplay is leagues worse than an "ugly" game with revolutionary gameplay.

Reply 0 123456789123345869

Yes, but an awesome game with awesome graphics is still better than an awesome game with ****** graphics.
Saying it shouldn't matter at all is a long shot. I don't even know what logic you're using here, because it seems you've just run out of points and are relying on extremes.
Has it ever crossed your mind that maybe both matter?
There's no point in picking between them. Saying it doesn't matter at all is ridiculous, that basically means it can look downright ****** as long as everything else is in order, like they shouldn't even work on the graphics "at all", because it doesn't matter "at all". ********, demand some freaking quality or you'll be playing a game with Nintendo DS-esque graphics.
Are the other features important? Of course, some of them are heaps more important than the graphics.
Doesn't make aesthetic appearance completely obsolete at all. They're part of the package in a great game.
It's like you're going out of your way to contradict me despite having lost your point. By your logic they should be making ****** looking games on purpose.

It would work to say "I've run out of points" if it weren't to the fact that I've been going with that point since the discussion started. And no one's arguing the good game + good grahics > good game + bad grahics, what I'm saying is that if all you know is the graphics, it's insane to automatically assume that the game with good graphics is going to have the better gameplay.

Especially since you first commented on the looks of the game system itself, which doesn't even have anything to do with the graphics of the game it'd play, let alone the gameplay. You're not starting at the machine, you're staring at the screen, which has 100% of what should have your attention.

I understand it's for children, but that's its major design flaw.

Children don't take care of their consoles and games out of anybody, so what did Nintendo do?

Not make it able to flip closed so that it's tiny and portable and the screen can be protected, no.

They made the screen completely exposed, and made it impossible to keep in anything smaller than a purse.

It's LITERALLY the OPPOSITE of what they should've made it for the demographic they're reaching for.

It is essentially what the Gameboy Micro was to the SP.
Not a successor, but simply an alternative.

The 2DS isn't meant to replace the 3DS. It's just a cheaper, 3D-less, and hingeless version of it.
