Science: Ruining interesting legends one at a time.

I bet next they'll say the lights all over the night sky are not billions of fireflies, but instead are big shiny spheres that are really far away! Or that planes don't fly on magic and the hopes and dreams of children. This is horse hockey. What Biology Class Didn't Want You To Know About Water | Marvels of the Science | Episode 4

Actually, the Bermuda triangle is an extremely widely used shipping route. The high number of shipwrecks is proportional to the high level of traffic. The supernatural stories were embellished and exaggerated to an extreme degree.

The gas bubble theory has pretty much been debunked, not only is there little evidence to support it but methane vents exist all over the world and it's never claimed a ship or plane outside of it.

Furthermore a large number of disappearances that occured inside the triangle never actually existed in the first place. Combine that with the number of ships and planes that mysteriously disappeared actually disappeared during storms and the fact that it's one of the most heavily travelled areas of ocean, there's no really mystery.

That's not proven. It's only one of the many hypotheses that they have come up with. ******* Tumblr people.

The one downside about Science is it takes all the magic and wonder out of things.
Sometimes knowing things takes the fun away.

Like the guy below me has said, this has yet to be proven.

While it is the most likely scenario, it doesn't explain all of the occurrences of supernatural events. Several victims of these supernatural events don't even accept methane as a full explanation. I don't remember the guys name, but there was this one pilot was saying how electrical malfunctions don't explain how a mechanical clock aboard his aircraft ended up hours behind time after he supposedly went through a time warp.

There were a couple other stories I read/saw where methane wouldn't account for everything. Not saying it's paranormal, just saying there's more to it than just ocean farts.

Some researchers say it's a combination of magnetic fields, methane, and the gulf stream that runs through the Triangle. However, it does little to prove the events involving aircraft.

Actually the methane vent thing got debunked by Mythbusters and a more likely idea is that the ships were sunk by rouge waves

damn those rouge waves! damn their gorgeous rosy cheeks to hell!!
