I tutored in college and it isn't rocket science to work with circuits, most of it is differential equations and linear algebra, as for their programming projects, most of the work is basic math and using a library already created for them... The thing is, I've never met an engineer who was exceptionally talented at Math, Physics, or Computer Science. Don't get me wrong, they are fully capable of doing what they do, but they aren't as smart as they would like to think they are..
