Back in 2001, guy named Charles Ingram went on WWTBAM. He had his wife and a friend hint him answers for questions by coughing and stuff. He won 1 million, but was charged with deception

Looked it up on Wikipedia. The crime is called "procuring the execution of a valuable security by deception." and it was a British case on the British version of Millionaire.

In America, I believe it would be fraud or perjury. Maybe larceny, but I'm no lawyer.

It would be fraud. Larceny is basically theft and perjury is swearing an oath to the truth then lying (Or affirming known lies to be truth)
