Says the genius that didn't capitalize "English" and "America". If you're gonna make a point, make it right.

Brags about English grammar being better than most Americans.

Doesn't know to capitalize English or American.

I'm a dual citizen of a European country and of The USA. This post is wrong, and even if it were right, non-US citizens still have horrible vernacular. Stop being so far up your own asshole with irrational prejudices against a country you've probably never been to just because a large portion of the world wants to convince you of its exaggerated weaknesses and inferiority.

That comma is a splice, English and American are not capitalized, your statement is a sentence fragment.
Is the joke supposed to be irony, OP?

Except for the fact that you're not actually smart enough to capitalize "English" or "American."

If you're going to act superior, try and make sure you are actually superior.

Both American and English ought to be capitalized. Moreover, the comma is unnecessary.

Everyone called out OP for not capitalizing "English" or "American," however not a soul noticed the missing apostrophe that should have been placed after "citizens" to show ownership.

Corrected sentence (albeit a fragment):
That feeling when your native language isn't English, and you realize that your English grammar is better than 99% of the American citizens'.

Furthermore, OP did not cite his or her source for the "99%" statistic.

>you realize that your english grammar is better than 99% of the american citizens.
>english grammar is better than 99% of the american citizens

Aside from simple capitalization errors, I hope you realize you're comparing grammar to citizens. You're basically saying your grammar is superior to people.

Correct usage:
>That feeling when your native language isn't English and you realize that your English grammar is better than that of 99% of American citizens.

1. When typing/writing in your second language you have to consciously think about every word in the sentence, while in your native language it is automatic and you just type whatever pops into your head. Because of this you are almost always more likely to make simple mistakes when typing in a language more familiar to you.

2. Most of your experience with Americans' writing is from the internet, where grammar and spelling are not a priority. In the real world, where it is much more important, people make the effort to make sure what they are typing is correct. A school paper from the average US high school student would most likely have much better grammar and vernacular than the majority of those whose native language isn't English.
