I live in the apartment Nicola Tesla lived in until he died. There's a plaque on the door of the room he stayed in. I thought that was pretty legit.

he died a cranky, poor pigeon lady.
he was a genius but didn't understand that without money his inventions will not help anyone.

Then he went nuts and tried to build a death ray. We need more scientists like him.

but he also destroyed it, realising it would be too great a weapon in the hands of the military.

Anyone remember the time he proved the Earth was an electrical conductor by shooting a couple million volts at the ground?

The artificial lightning bolt hit the ground and thunder was heard in a town 15 miles away while people saw sparks jumping from their feet and out of water taps.

Oh Tesla, you prankster you.

Also, their fields were kinda different.

I admire this man and I wish to make his desire a reality.
User avatar #78 - Hreidmar (08/24/2013) [-]
I also just want to say that in his heyday, Tesla was pretty attractive.

That is all.

Aren't Tesla coils....dangerous? Just having a large, charged structure shooting off energy to nearby homes seems unsafe.
#56 to #15 - cheifadvisoryuri (08/24/2013) [-]
And your point is?
User avatar #35 - shadowstepone (08/24/2013) [+] (10 replies)
you know, while the idea is nice, if his concept for the power grid had gone through we'd either have to pay for power as a collective or switch to this system, because at the time electricity was so cheap that people could basically call it free. His system seemed nice, but now power costs so much more that trying to use alternating currents would mean that no one could afford it. Also, on a side note, it is the most inefficient system of transferring power imaginable, other than maybe clockwork gears.
