Well, to me, the purpose of Bear Grylls' show is to teach people things (or at least make them think they are learning things). There's no point in him being in actual danger as long as the things he shows legit stuff. As for the raft, it's just an example of what you could do with things you should be able to find. But Bear Grylls seems to be about teaching about survivaling, more than actual survival.

It's like your chemistry teacher saying which acids are dangerous and what you should do when you come into contact with them, instead of pouring them all on his hands or whatever and then show the correct course of action to get rid of them by actually getting rid of them and probably incurring injuries along the way.

Both ways are effective, but Grylls' way is much more convenient.

That said, Stroud is ******* awesome and one of the biggest badasses alive.

Okay, no. Grylls was...
In the SAS
Climbed MT everest only a year and a half after breaking 3 vertebrae
Rowed naked for 22 miles across the Thames in a homemade bathtub
crossed the North Atlantic on a rigid inflatable ship
Climbed one of the most remote, unclimbed peak in the world, which was in Antarctica

I'm sorry, but has Stroud done all that?
I mean, the SAS thing ALONE is enough to put him at a 10 in the badass scale.

Stroud is a Badass. Also have to give Bear Grylls props for breaking his spine after a parachuting accident and surviving.

Les Stroud is from Survivorman... the Canadian version of Man vs Wild, except it's 100% real.

Bear Grylls, however, is NOT a charlatan. Some things are fake yes, but he still has immense skill and knowledge about the outdoors.

Grylls' primary shindig is that he shows you what to do when a disaster hits you while you're out in the wild - stuff like falling in a freezing river for example. He kind of has to have a team with him because if something ends up happening during one of his disaster scenarios that screws him up a lot worse than it normally would, he's pretty much done for. Because Grylls goes to these extremes, he also has to take care of himself extensively. He "actively ***** up on purpose" because the point of his show is to tell you what you need to do when you **** up in general.

Stroud's shindig is general survival in different conditions. His primary shindig is enduring the elements and just handling the basic tactics and movements to go when you're surviving somewhere like the desert.

Also, OP, you're the king of faggots if you think an SAS isn't badass. Enjoy your cock throne.

Traveling alone through dangerous places doesn't make you a badass. It makes you an idiot.

Bear Grylls is head of the UK Cub Scout group, he does know his **** . Just because he isn't stupid enough to put himself in the situation doesn't make him any less competent at survival skills.

Grylls also went solo a few times

He also casually finds abandoned cabins in the wood which have plenty of food

Everyone.... you do understand that Bear Grylls show, Man vs Wild, is about escaping the situation at hand and finding civilization right? That's why you always see him going to places and finding help within 3-4 days. Because this show is about who can win in a survival situation, the man or the wild? THE WHOLE POINT OF THE SHOW IS GETTING OUT OF THE WILD.

Les Strous is good I admit, but in his show, he tends to stay in the wild and show you how to LIVE IN THE WILD. Do you see the difference of the 2 story now? One shows you how to get out while the other wants you to get in touch with nature and live out doors.
