If those people hadn't been killed by American troops they'd have been killed by other Muslims.

Suppose I'm posting this at the wrong time, but I don't really care.

I'm not too sure what these people did, why they did it, and whatnot. What I do know is that what is happening in the Middle East is war, and people die in war. Civilians will get killed if they get caught in the middle of a firefight. If the US finds a major enemy operations center, and there are civilians present, they'll still call a strike. This isn't because they want the civilians dead, it's because it would be too much of a danger to send soldiers in. Civilians casualties aren't as important as US military personnel.

Why? Because it's war. People die, and the US government can't concern itself with another nations civilians. Does that make it right? No.

But I guarantee you that if you had to make a call to send in people from your nation to fight a dangerous battle, or drop a bomb on the location, you'd probably make the same calls. That isn't because you're selfish, or evil. It's human nature to want to protect your own.

I see your point but I also think that harvesting the body parts of said deceased civilians is going a bit further than them simply being caught in the crossfire.

Look i am a soldier currently in the US military and i think this guy upheld at least part of the standard with his duty, selfless service, honor, integrity, and personal courage. he may not have went about it the right way and the things he posted may have caused a few problems but **** like that is what causes other countrys to get pissed at the US in the first place and causes wars. I feel like he still got a harsher punishment then he deserved.

TL;DR he did what he thought was right even though it in itself was both wrong and right

he leaked so many documents that he literally could not have veted them, or checked them in any way, to see if the information was relevant or useful to the general population in any way.

he just spewed out files, including military patrol routes, times, dates, personnel files, mission critical data... even if he didn't do that deliberately, he aided the enemy. (this is from a non-US citizen.)

He's an idiot, he didn't do it to help the people, or to uncover war crimes, he did it because he could.

Hard to tell what a civilian is over there when they'll strap a bomb to a child right after they wave at you and say thanks for the aid. Just sayin
