Straight up, it takes more faith to believe in evolution than it does to believe in creationism. Do you know how many things would have to be exactly right and come together perfectly for it to even work? And the whole "it came about by many small mutations to improve the species" bit is nonsense. Most all mutations are fatal. You think that animals adapt over time? Sure, me too. But the whole "your great great million time great grandma was a shrew like creature" isn't realistic.

Their both pretty hard to believe, but one just has more evidence for now. I'm a hindu, and I find evolution a more understandable theory just because it has things to back it up.

>Most all mutations are fatal
You undergo in average 100 mutations when you're a fetus and 30 mutations from when you're born until you're dead

See this video for more information and THE WHOLE video, not just the first few minutes 8th Foundational Falsehood of Creationism

Dude, the Universe has been around for millions of years, changing every second
Imagine that you take a basketball shot blindfolded every second for billions of years.
inevitably you will get a bunch of shots in a row, by the very nature of infinite probability is that anything is possible.

>millions
It's been around for Billions
User avatar #133 to #132 - Crusader (08/22/2013) [-]
I know.
But if it has been around for billions, then it has also been around for millions.

Sorry for understating the age of the universe.

There's such a thing as advantageous mutations you silly **** . In fact, some mutations neither hinder nor help an individual in ANY way. Blue eyes are a genetic mutation among humans - have blue eyed people died out yet?

I wish stupidity and close-mindedness legitimately caused people to die before being old enough to procreate. What a utopia that would be.

How's high school going, by the way? Is that where you learned everything there is to know about evolution?

Sorry, forgot having a different opinion made me stupid

Yeah a lot less believable than man just spawning out of nowhere and then a female spawning from a mans rib.

I think if you're an atheist you're going to believe in evolution, and if you're a theist you're going to believe in creationism. Are you an atheist/agnostic?
User avatar #119 to #48 - thesinful (08/22/2013) [-]
Except you're wrong. My evolutionary biology professor was a baptist.
User avatar #49 to #48 - iliketires (08/22/2013) [-]
I'm agnostic, but it doesn't matter. Evolution is at the very least more provable than creationism.
#53 to #49 - anonymous (08/22/2013) [-]
It's just a theory that doesn't compute with the Bibles teachings honestly. Not the macro evolution stuff anyways. Your philosophy is a big influence on what makes sense to you right? Creationism makes sense to me. Evolution makes sense to you and that's alright, it doesn't make me a stupid christian or you a stupid agnostic it just means people have opinions.
#89 to #53 - popeflatus (08/22/2013) [-]
Evolution is a fact! The word 'theory' in science doesn't mean 'guess', it is a testable explanation that best fits the available facts and data. There has never been one piece of evidence that evolution cannot explain and there has been zero evidence of yahweh or any god existing ever.

Evolution is the change in populations over time. There is no micro, there is no macro, there is only evolution. Populations changing over time is fact. The theory of evolution explains HOW it happens. Creation is a genie using an incantation to speak the universe into existence from literal nothing, then breathing life into a mound of dirt to make the first man. Pure magic.

What is macro but the compounding of numerous generations of micro?

I have no problem about what people believe. I just think some of the bibles teachings like it's view on homosexuality and creationism are bogus.
#62 to #57 - anonymous (08/22/2013) [-]
I feel like if you talk to different christians you hear different stuff about homosexuality and creationism. There are people who believe in evolution and gay rights and are christians too. Honestly I think people need to calm down about it. I think gay people sleeping together is a sin because you're not supposed to sleep with someone unless you're married, and that means they're fornicating and lots of people do that without getting all this hate...
User avatar #64 to #62 - iliketires (08/22/2013) [-]
So what happens to the people that are born in 3rd world countries that have never even been exposed to Christianity? They obviously sleep with each other, gay and straight but they have no idea that it's a "sin."

Marriage didn't even start as a bond between 2 people, it was an agreement between countries in order to trade land and people easier.
#70 to #64 - anonymous (08/22/2013) [-]
That's a good question. I don't know what happens to people who don't know any better, who've never heard any different. I don't care if non christian gay people were to get married because you can't really force people to follow the rules of a religion they don't follow. Depends on the history you follow I guess, in the bible it started so that two people could help each other though I understand a long time ago it was mainly used for profit/political reasons
#90 to #70 - popeflatus (08/22/2013) [-]
The bible has been shown to be ahistorical nonsense from a time when ignorant peasants thought the world was a disk covered by a crystal dome, the the value of pi was exactly 3 and it was okay to kill disobedient children and homosexuals. It is the worst possible source of morality and history that is available. No Adam and Eve ever existed- Fact. No great flood ever occurred- Fact. No Exodus or 'Jewish' slaves- Fact.

Wow you really convinced me I'm an atheist now thanks.
