I have a light switch in my apartment that turns off everything that's plugged in. I had to tape it in the "on" position as I keep mistaking it for a switch that turns on the lights. And when I see it "on" I think, "**** I'm wasting money." and turn it off. Only to be turning off my TV, receiver, speakers, xbox......

MFW the DVR is recording something.

I have one too.
My brain tells me to flip it every so often because it forgets what the switch does.

why not just remove it? like take out the switch from the wall if its on its own, if its in a line of a few of them then just take out that one and put tape on the back side of the plastic thing

just completely cover it with tape, like to the point where it's clear that you shouldn't turn it off

I did. I used clear packing tape to tape it "ON". I've tried accidentally turning it off but the tape holds. Thank the gods.

My grandparents' house has several of these things. It's so bad that we made it a game to see which switch turns on which light. First person to get 100% wins.
It's been going on for several years.
We are yet to have a winner.

My gramma has one with like 4 different switches. It's ridiculous, who had the brilliant idea when designing the house to put 4 light switches right next to each other

I would just never bother with those if I were you. If I needed light, carry around an oil lamp and never need to worry about what light switch is for what light

A person with an odd sense of humor I suppose. I can't imagine why anyone think this is a good or convenient idea.

There's one switch I did manage to pinpoint in my grandparents' house because it is by far the most bizarrely located.
There're three switches lined up in the living room. One turns on a lamp, the other turns on the ceiling fan, the one in between these two turns on the garbage disposal in the kitchen.
I had to look at my grandmother and ask "Why does this exist?"

Oh my god that's hilarious. I'm assuming those three things are spaced out quite a bit throughout the room, too, aren't they?

That's hysterical. At my house, next to a few outlets, there are two switches, just like the ones in the picture, one controls the light above our sink, and the other one, the garbage disposal. So if you wanna turn on that light in the middle of the night, you better hope that you hit the right button, unless you want to wake up everybody and their brother. It's really silly.
