Everyone talks about how your toddler/adolescent years were your best years, but think about it...

You were physically small.
You didn't know how to do anything properly.
You had all sorts of questions, and maybe even opinions, about everything, yet no one payed any attention to you.
Trying to do anything your parents were already doing (even if it wasn't even the dangerous **** , like smoking or drinking) was ground for punishment.
Trying to defend yourself on ANYTHING was pretty much a fruitless effort on every occasion.

Being a little kid...SUCKED.

Where I am right now, having turned 21 just a few months ago, is infinitely better. No, seriously, get this:

Physically, I'm right on par with everyone else. No one gives me **** for being "small and adorable."
I actually know how to adequately take are of myself. I **** up every once in a while, but never "I wanted spaghetti-o's and now the kitchen's on fire!" **** up.
People still don't give a rats ass about my opinions and questions......but now I know it's just because people are assholes.
My parents can't say **** about drinking, smoking... **** ...even cursing.
Same **** with having opinions and questions, though telling people to **** off when they accuse you of erroneous **** works surprisingly well.

Do I have bills and responsibilities? Hell yes, but I deal with it...because I'm not the whiney little **** I was 16 years ago.

You had more responsibilities as a kid. You had to go to school, which is just like a job with overtime (homework) except you don't get a dime out of it.

1. Paying bills on time. That **** will **** up your credit
2. Paying rent. Unless you like to sleep on the cold ground that **** has to be paid
3. Keeping a job. Sometimes that **** sucks but that's the way of the world
4. Eating your vegetables. **** keeps you healthy son

I just started my senior year. Although it's exciting, I'm really worried about what my future will be like.

Alcohol
Gambling
Having near full control over your life

I feel that those offset the burdens of responsibility and bills

I just turned 18 and I left home about a month ago. Yeah I slept under a bridge last night and am curently homeless with nothing but the shirt on my back but I have NO RESPONSIBILITIES. I sleep where I want, **** where I want and answer only to myself. Being homeless is the most fun I have ever had in my life. I have had a ******* of crazy adventures and its only been a month!

TL;DR being homeless is where it's at.

May I ask; if you're homeless, how are you on FJ?

i am sick of people telling me to grow up....yeah i understand the responsibilities of paying bills and having a job....but my god...let me have my MLP time...not every person should drop there whole child hood....keep it...it will help you go through those hard, depressing times
User avatar #111 to #56 - sarahskullie (08/21/2013) [-]
yeah....i know that the subject matter was kinda irrelevant...but what i was trying to bring out is you don't have to give up everything when your an adult, i know guys who still play with legos and watch kids anime...and are over the age of 25 and have really good jobs. even when I'm an adult, i still want to have some piece of my child hood.
