Any girl who uses this is a ******* bitch. "Oh you're being nice and buying me a drink? Let me just test to see if you're a rapist because I obviously don't trust you." I would just walk the **** away from a girl if she did some **** like this. That's really offensive and rude. The girl is basically saying I think you might be a rapist so i'm going to test your drink because I do not trust you at all. **** that.

it's not exactly that the girl is calling you a rapist or anything, it can be quite intimidating accepting drinks from strangers because you don't know them, you have no idea who they are or what they're like, and with a lot of media surrounding date rape victims it's okay for girls to be cautious

At prom, my ex told me not to drink from the same water cup twice because somebody might try this. As if anybody wants to rape me..

That feel when you lack the confidence to even consider using date rape drugs on a girl.

the stripes won't be immediately visible if you simply use a red drink

I once saw a news story about this.
It was for straws instead of cups though. The straw would show red stripes if it detected a date rape drug.
I didn't quite get it. It's a straw, by the time it changes colors it'd be too late.

So it's done using a chemical reaction of some sort? So all the cups have this chemical coating on the inside already? Does it wash out after the first "safe" drink? So many questions, and the site is less than forthcoming.

And it seems like the coating will last the whole night

People seems to be saying "girls won't take their own cups to pubs".

That's true, they won't; but what would stop the pubs themselves using these glasses, and simply not telling anyone? The staff would be keeping an eye on the cups, and intervene if they see a positive result, rather than let a girl be raped and forever have the girl, and her friends, think of your establishment as the one that let her get raped.

That would be an awesome bar. I bet most wouldn't be willing to make the additional investment, though, since I assume these cups cost a bit more than the standard.

But surely the drugs they can detect are limited. It's not like there's one "date rape" drug. You'd need to be able to detect a LOT of different compounds, and do it in such a way that the chemicals you use aren't dangerous to drink.
