The only thing that ever seems to make get off is when the game freezes or a ******* quest glitches.

I really love Skyrim, but for some reason after I had beaten it the first time around, I just couldn't get myself to sit down and play it; I'd always get really bored and feel underpowered compared to my original character and I'd eventually stop playing.

I would like to point out that you can sit with most CiV days and then have days missing

I tried to play Skyrim but I got bored. My friends told me it would take a bit of time before you really get into it. They also hate me now.

Basically everything everyone has said already. My advice? If you liked Skyrim, you'll like Oblivion. It's an older game, so don't expect the same level of "wow" as Skyrim, visually. But I find that the characters are more dynamic, the guilds and quests are more interesting, and the story overall is more engaging. Your character is a hero, but doesn't win recognition like in Skyrim - basically, it's more realistic in that aspect. Seriously, try it out. The GOTY edition is only $19 on Steam, but it's always going on sale.

Overall I'd say: Morrowind 6/10, Oblivion 7/10, Skyrim 8/10. None of them are jaw-dropping amazing, but can be fun in their own ways.
I'll just be talking about my experiences with just the vanilla games, no mods or DLC installed, not delving into the lore, and ignoring the graphical differences.
Morrowind - Dunmer - Open world, main campaign lost me sometimes, complete class customization (there were skills for jumping and running for god sakes), a somewhat infuriating quest system, no fast travel.
Oblivion - Imperials - Open world sometimes felt like empty space, a pretty linear main campaign, bit less class customization, quest system works better, map has fast travel.
Skyrim - Nords - Open world with things to actually do in it, has Two main campaigns (three in a manner of speaking), classes are completely thrown out the window, fast travel is still here, and you can dual wield weapons/spells finally.
Blah blah, to each their own opinion, and all that. This is just how I felt while playing through them.

Oblivion is much more diverse than Skyrim in culture and landscape, the music is better, guilds are better, quests are more interesting. On the other hand Oblivion is and older game so the graphics are lamer, magic doesn't look as good as in Skyrim, characters look terrible and voice acting is not as good as in Skyrim.
I strongly suggest trying out Oblivion because it has more pros than cons.

Oblivions landscape is better? ***** you cray.
User avatar #35 to #30 - tatwis (08/12/2013) [-]
I didn't say the landscape was better, I said it was more diverse.

It's still not. You have water and forest an sometimes hills. Skyrim has autumnal forests, rolling planes, icy tundras, swampy marshes, mountain ranges, and everything in between. Don't get me wrong, Oblivion is my favorite TES game but still.
