Oh yeah, they make Dead Space for adults.

That's why they had these commercials for it, that are totally not aimed at teenagers.

If they make the games for 30-year olds why do we see the ******* promotions on mountain dew and doritos?

Are you saying 30 year olds don't drink mountain dew or eat doritos?

When I was about 14, I really wanted to play Mass Effect, but my dad was very strict, so I had to prepare a presentation so that he would let me get a game with one sex scene in it. After I brought it home, he came and checked every five minutes, expecting some sort of pornographic content. Instead, he just saw a whole lot of nerdy aliens.

This is exactly the same god damned thing I've been saying whenever I hear a story about kid's "getting exposed to violent video games".

It has a big red (18) on the front for a reason, don't buy it for your 9 year old.

On the topic of censorship, can someone please explain to me in what possible realm of logic sex is more taboo than violence?

In Prototype 2 I can slice someone in half or consume them and take on their appearance; In porn, people imitate the act of procreating without actually procreating.

If one's a perfectly normal human function to create life and the other is performing an act of violence sometimes so severe it gains infamy even among gamers (manhunt)

I'm not against violence or sex in games/movies or anything, this is just something that confuses me.

My parents always let me buy what ever game I want to, as long as I have the money.

They've built up this system where I get a lot of privileges, like weekly pocket money, being allowed to stay up at night for a long time, be outside with my friends at night, etc.

But, they trust I have responsibility, and that I know when I've reached my limit, so if I ever do something largely irresponsible they simply take away my privileges.

Oh, and I'm 15 years old.

True, but I as well as many others can handle gore and what not in videogames. Sex is understandable that it's forbidden. Sort of.

I mean, with all the horror movies and what not out there..

Also hey.

actually games are made more for the teen/adult market. Call of Duty, Dead Space 2,3 (not 1) etc are more aimed at the teens. IMO.

BULL **** .

The average, frequent video game player is not over 30.

Australia? The **** did we do?

Oh yeah, I hate whoever decides wether to censor games or not. It's like banning men from having steak because a baby can't chew it. Also apparently in Fallout 3 which was not censored, you're allowed to blow someone up into thousands of tiny giblets and body parts, but in L4D2 you aren't so much as allowed to see a zombie's corpse for more then 3 seconds. Good job rating people.

I work at GameStop, and I always try to tell parents that rated M means for 17+ but they still get angry when they come back in and complain about the content of the game. I simply point to the box on the back that says "Sexual Content, Use of Drugs, Strong Language, Violence" and tell them once more that I told them it was not for their 9-year-old.
