There's no oxygen or matter to vibrate, which is what makes sound to begin with.

now here is a question say we finally can travel in space and we pick a fight with another ship will it make a noise when one ship explodes since ships, planets, asteroids, and meteors are made of matter?

The people on the ships will be able to hear it. They have to be connected by some kind of matter. They won't hear the other ship exploding though.

if the ship contained a large amount of air, when the ship exploded would you not be able to hear it through the air, if you were in another ship nearby or in space itself? (sorry if a dumb question just wondering)

The air would escape too quickly through the vacuum of space. People within a short distance would be able to hear, but unless the other ship was 5 feet away you wouldn't hear it explode.

Wouldn't it be extremely muffled at best?

Sound travels through matter. It needs some kind of matter within a short distance. By short, I mean in atoms. If it was 5 feet away the explosion would send particles over to the other ship for a few seconds allowing the other ship to hear it, but I highly doubt a space battle will take place with the ships 5 feet apart. Unless they were ramming each other.
