What I don't understand is why all these different organisations don't team up. I mean we have organisations for equality for gays, races, mentally disabled, religions and sexes.

If they all want equal rights why do they go about it to get individual equal rights for each individual cause? Wouldn't it be simpler to just form one big organisation that wants equality for all?

Or am I overlooking some major flaw in this thinking?

Primarily because that hypothetical organization would be too big to be effective in any way. You need specialization. That's like saying 'why doesn't the blacksmith just do the tanning, shape the glass, build the cathedral, and make the candlesticks too? Sure would save us space.'

Well the red cross does a ******* of different things to aid dozens of poor countries and they seem to do fine.

Besides it wouldn't be anything like your example since there would still be the same amount of members, they would just belong to a bigger organization. Yes it would be more diffcult to manage, but the advantage of having a bigger organization, and therefore more people, would make it harder to ignore and give them more pull politically.

Um, yeah the red cross does lots of aid. They're the red ******* cross. What the red cross doesn't do is open up psychiatry clinics and provide landscaping services. Really, how many hyperbolic analogies must I use before you realize your argument is flawed?

I'm saying that equality for all is not that ******* complicated and you'd think an organization could figure out how to do it.

I know this isn't going to happen and that "it's not that simple" but I feel someone should be asking these questions. I just feel that individual organizations seeking equality for individual groups instead of a larger movement seems inefficient.

And as for the analogies, I'll settle for one if it makes sense.

the main reason is equality for all doesn't bring in as much money.

That's a disturbingly good point...

People are idiots.

That's like saying we should have a universal vaccine. They're different beasts with different subissues involved. Would you fight malaria the same way you fight AIDs?

If they were the same issues involved, you wouldn't get the awesome joke from the Onion, "White woman tried as black man".
#12 to #6 - anonymous (07/28/2013) [-]
well you have to "specialize" in something. its not like they can put biology, physics chemistry, astronomy etc. together just because they are all science
