If that's so, then how come he had a gun filled with blanks on him?

Standard piece of the costume? He was supposed to have one at that point in the movie so they equipped him with one? Or are you questioning the blanks part?

They did that to degrade that Arabs.

Not entirely true. They came up with a quicker ending to the scene because ford had stomach flu or dysentery or whatever. He didn't just improvise it, though that would have been cool.
If you don't believe me, look at how quickly the swordsman (who is a professional swordsman if I might add) and ALL the extras react to the shot.

That scene is an accurate representation of demoknight gameplay

somehow, seeing a picture of a movie with some words under it apparently makes it a fact.

Am I the only one who is finding it hard to believe this?

Planning a change from the original scene into a different one before filming is not improvising.

The guy who was killed just improvised and fell on the ground? That's pretty good considering he expected a fight. I may have stood there for a second confused and ruined the scene after he shot at me instead of a physical fight.

Someone's going to find a reason to thumb me down and talk **** . Just watch.

And the guy he shot apparently went along with this unexpected turn of events perfectly.

I believe this is semi-inaccurate
So Harrison DID have dysentery
But I dont think it was improvised, explaining the gun loaded with blanks
They just decided that that will make the scene go by faster
User avatar #32 to #29 - rogueninja (07/28/2013) [-]
Why would they load it at all if it wasn't need for the scene?
User avatar #86 - demandsgayversion (07/28/2013) [+] (10 replies)
I'm not sure that's true. If he was intended to have a full fight scene, and it was improvised, then why did he have a gun loaded with blanks? Why didn't any of the extras laugh?
User avatar #57 - Lambda (07/28/2013) [-]
It wasn't exactly improvised, before they filmed the scene, Harrison Ford said he wasn't feeling too good and said something to the effect of "Can't I just shoot the guy?" So they did that.
User avatar #36 - rubixium (07/28/2013) [-]
I heard that the original script had him using his whip to take the sword away, and then the guy was supposed to run away.

During rehearsal of the scene Harrison Ford kept ******* it up, and in one of the cuts he decides to just shoot him. The director thought it was so funny when it happened they kept it.

I dont know which version is true but I like this version more, and its gonna say the version I tell people when I watch it with them.

This is wrong.

Though it was originally intended to be a fight scene, Harrison Ford hurt (cut, maybe; idk) his hand and felt as though he couldn't do a fight scene. It wasn't on-the-spot improvisation, Spielberg and him had talked about it prior to the shooting.

turns out OP was right (go figure):

“I had chosen to eat native food, unlike Steven who went to Tunisia with a steamer trunk full of SpaghettiOs, and I had suffered mightily for that,” Ford said. “I was no longer capable of staying out of my trailer for more than it took to expose a role of film, which was 10 minutes, and then I would have to flee back there for sanitary facilities.”
