Look, I love the Dark Knight Returns graphic novel. It was creative and worked well. But I don't see it working on screen. They said this will be the sequel to Man of Steel, which doesn't make sense. Superman would be the villain and government lackey, while at the end of Man of Steel he was shown freelancing away from the government. Also, Clark isn't a particularly strong character yet in the Man of Steel universe. Why damage it by putting him against a superhero?

Besides, the whole "coming out of retirement" bit of the Dark Knight Returns was already used in TDKR. In the Dark Knight Returns Bruce is supposed to be 55 years old. How could that possibly go over? And if you adapt it so his age is less or say that Batman isn't coming out of retirement you diminished what the inspiration for the film was: The Dark Knight Returns. RETURNS is in the damn name!

Then of course you have to mention how the Batman movies are all diminished if you use TDK trilogy continuity. Sure, Batman beat Bane and saved Gotham from a nuke, but couldn't Superman have done that easily in 20 minutes? And why is Man of Steel playing up the "only superhero and a real hero" if the world also knows of Batman? I don't see the continuities going together unless you make an entirely new Batman, and an entirely new Batman doesn't work for a Batman film franchise nor the Man of Steel Superman because Clark will take a character hit.

Nolan hasn't signed off on producing this movie yet, and because of all the holes above I don't think he will. He tied off TDK trilogy perfectly and exactly as he wanted to. I can't see him being wiling to drag that same image through the mud for the sake of an Avengers rip off.

What the **** are you talking about? They never made a big deal of of Superman being the "only hero and a real hero" the only thing that was made a big deal was the fact that he was an alien.

1) It has been stated by people in Warner Brothers that Batman would be rebooted. There is no Nolan Batman in the new movie

2) It is not an adaptation of TDKR. A quote was used by Snyder to describe a theme he wants to portray in the Superman/Batman movie, which is likely going to highlight the differences in philisophy between the characters. There is no information on the movie

3) Even in the comics, it is shown that Superman is generally accepted to be the first public hero. Other heroes worked in the shadows, and Superman revealing himself made other heroes want to show themselves too

I cant wait but if they make this a versus thing then that might put me off a little bit.

I`m tired of people ******** on superman. Making superman a villain or just ******

The sad thing is that if it's gonna be a versus movie, they're gonna make Batman rip Superman a new asshole, and it's gonna go like that because BM is more popular.

"It's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest superheroes in the world," he said.

Snyder strongly hinted that the heroes will be rivals in the movie.

Yeah that is it exactly.

Because of the wave of popularity Batman is riding that means Superman will get wrecked.

I bet it starts with them two working together and then some villain (maybe lex luther) will make them fight each other and that`s is when Batman will beat Superman and they will both team up to fight the villain.
