I'll just leave this here. Worst book adaptation I've ever seen.

At least they exlcuded a sequel by killing the Ra'Zac in the movie.

The only thing I approved of in that movie was John Malkovich as Galbatorix.

This book series HAD THE MOST RETARDED ******* ENDING in the history of endings.

I am ready for your rage.
User avatar #332 to #320 - kipperss (07/25/2013) [-]
although I agree that it wasn't what I wanted, it was a damn good ending. It was the only book to make me tear up, and I'm a guy in college...

*************************SPOILERS*************************************

No, unacceptable. That ending, in as few words as possible, was gay. Arya, the hot Elf, was supposed to get with Eragon. Especially since she became a dragon rider. BUT, instead, she becomes Queen of the elves... which would be acceptable... If Dragon Riders were allowed a position of power within the elven society! That was unacceptable!!!

Ha maybe Christopher Paolini was like **** this **** , I'm going to make every single person rage at the end. To be fair though he was in high school when he started the series, so perhaps he already had the ending set that they would not end up together like everyone wanted.

But still though, he broke the rules of his own story. Not cool man. :/

When I was younger, I finished the first book, and was introduced to Runescape by a childhood friend. I named my character Eregon160 because I made a typo and only realized when I finished tutorial island. I didn't wanna make a new one so I dissmissed it, w.e Eragons cool as **** . I even found some ***** with the name Murtagh, **** was cool. Then the movie came out. And everyone who knew about it harassed me about it like if it was my fault. Good times.

I agree. Worst film adaptation ever. Although I did like Jeremy Irons

I watched the movie first (got hyped up because of ILM doing the SFX), then I read the book, my thoughts during:
1. Wait, Arya was an elf?
2. Wait, those normally sized people were supposed to be DWARVES?
3. Wait, those rednecks painted with blue paint were supposed to be the urgals? (spelling might be off here, haven't read it in English)
And most important of all:
FEATHERED WINGS, ON A GODDAMN DRAGON
MFW after realizing how **** the movie was

Eragon is largely 10/10 like star wars with dragons.

But Eldest, Brisingr and Inheritance are all a lot better than Eragon (probably due to the author maturing; I mean, he WAS fifteen when he began writing Eragon, and nineteen when it was published.) and he began incorporating original ideas like the power of names and the eldunari. Each new book of the series improved it, and even though it definitely borrows heavily from other stories, mainly star wars and LOTR, it has a lot of original ides, interesting characters and is very well written.

I don't know, I didn't really like Inheritance that much. It kinda reminds me of some dragonball-esque moment, where everything's SO powerful, that you can no longer solve your fights with fighting. I thought the nuke part was cool though.

I started writing a book at 15 too, and yes, this is just my opinion with my head up my ass, but so far it's looking 100x better than anything Paolini wrote. (Currently 16 and halfway through draft 2.)
He had so many useless sidestories that went nowhere, the ending took like 200 pages to tie up all the loose ends which he could have effectively done in a single chapter, and he described unnecessary things for sooo long. I remember a bead of sweat being described for like half a page or more, but could be wrong.

>10/10 like star wars with dragons
I lol'd

I read the first two, and I think i wrote the third one as well. I was not impressed, and I don't think I shall ever finish the books. I will continually dislike them, and express this honest opinion if anybody ever ask me about the subject, but to each his own, if you enjoy the story, I am glad.

As long as we can agree the movie was one of the worst adaptations I can think off, right after Avatar: TLA and Dragonball.
User avatar #259 to #115 - sundizzle ONLINE (07/25/2013) [-]
It's exactly star wars with dragons. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. They're both written with the same "hero's tale" in mind.

But seriously, I highly reccomend you finish the series. It didn't take me very long and I can guarantee the 3rd and 4th books are better than the first two. By the time he starts the 3rd book, you can tell how much Paolini has matured. It starts off with the most gory scene imaginable for the series. There's a ******* priest that is only a torso and a head bleeding from where his limbs would be into a giant pool of blood.
That's metal as **** .
But my point is, the 4th book even gave me chills to a certain point. The ending is one you wouldn't really expect and the journey is so greatly written.

The movie: 0/10
The books: 9001/10

I guess that's all down to opinions, I won't yell on you for that either.

And yes, that movie was ******* pathetic. I remember I was so excited to go see it, and it just.... yeah, we all know the rest.
User avatar #62 to #47 - Bforbacon (07/24/2013) [-]
They killed the Ra'Zac in like FOUR ******* MINUTES and in the books it's like a lifelong journey.
