OH MY GOD ALL OF MY YES, Have you read the light bringer series yet? it's pretty good, though not as dark, still Brent Weeks has become my all time favorite writer, i expect much from this man.
User avatar #450 to #389 - tormain (07/25/2013) [-]
I'm planning to read the dark prism when I finish Game of Thrones

I heard there is going to be another trilogy in the same universe after Brent Weeks is done with his current series.

This looks like Ranger's Apprentice. Only cause the hood and bow tho. I've never read the books u posted.

It's crazy as hell but not much like Ranger's Apprentice (amazing series by the way). Basically, this kid lives in the slums of a medieval world and crap goes down. He ends up becoming basically death incarnate. It's an extremely messed up and sad story of that kid as he grows up being a grim reaper of an assassin and his attempt at holding on to the last of his humanity.

15 year old orphin who's been dreaming of being a knight all his life gets shut down after being too scrawny to handle the training. In his annoyance, he sneaks into the castle to try and convince the battlemaster otherwise but is caught by the ranger assigned to their castle, Halt. He then decides that with practice, the boy could become a great ranger. The entire first book is about his transition from a frightened small kid to a complete badass of the shadows. And it's a much better ending than the Shadows series. Sorry if that's a bit wordy but that was my favorite book series for a loooong time. They're only about 200 pages and there's 10 books last I checked.

11 now is a matter of fact. I think I'm going to read this series in English because in my own language (dutch) they raped the translation. Horic I believe was his name was translated to Arnaut... I don't get why you need to change someones name.

I wonder the same thing with most anime translations. It's a good series though so enjoy.

Love this series. I'm close to completing Shadow's Edge. I'll be starting Beyond the Shadows shortly afterward.

YESSS, id rather a well done game or a another book though
User avatar #167 to #164 - KayRed (07/25/2013) [-]
Yeah, but if you really think about it, a well done game already exist, just play Dishonored.
User avatar #179 to #167 - tormain (07/25/2013) [-]
Dishonored does not include Durzo Blint, and I really need a movie with Vi(ridiana) for... research.
User avatar #183 to #179 - KayRed (07/25/2013) [-]
That awkward "three" way sex scene in book three is one of my favorite sex scenes in any book....since you're bring up research.

That was truly the best thing I ever read. to be honest I always hoped Kylar would go for Vi but I knew that was not going to happen. That's also why I liked the ending because it gave that opening.
User avatar #191 to #188 - KayRed (07/25/2013) [-]
Me too, if only cuz she's a red head.

My only concern with a movie would be that they'd cast a douchebag as Kylar.
User avatar #194 to #191 - tormain (07/25/2013) [-]
Yeah I dread that too, turning it into some sort of Twilight sparking piece of **** . And the same thing for Logan, who is seriously brutal. I mean how he killed Kylar by breaking all his limbs was awesome.
User avatar #198 to #194 - KayRed (07/25/2013) [-]
Hopefully who ever makes the movie realizes that's this isn't sparkly fanatsy, but gritty fantasy and they cast accordingly. Kylar and Logan aren't gonna be super models.
User avatar #201 to #198 - tormain (07/25/2013) [-]
I hope so, I mean they touch on some seriously messed up material like cannibalism and the maiming and death of children. that's not something you can just throw glitter on and make it pretty. These books are blood, fear, brutality and a **** load of sex. You can't just make that some modern day fun for everyone movie or even better a series.
User avatar #202 to #201 - KayRed (07/25/2013) [-]
Not when prostitutes are such pivotal characters.
User avatar #206 to #202 - tormain (07/25/2013) [-]
Precisely, that why I don't really see it turning into a movie (contradicting what I said earlier but still). A series would be much more effective also to ensure no or little loss of the original story and will be able to show much more gore than a movie could. Like Game of Thrones (which I'm currently reading book 3) or spartacus.
User avatar #208 to #206 - KayRed (07/25/2013) [-]
I don't want to spoil anything for you, but book 4 has a sex scene involving Samwell that rivals Vi's awkward three way.
User avatar #446 to #208 - tormain (07/25/2013) [-]
Can't wait to read it.
#222 to #208 - mangham (07/25/2013) [-]
book 4?
User avatar #223 to #222 - KayRed (07/25/2013) [-]
Yeah, in book 4...what are you confused about?
#226 to #223 - mangham (07/25/2013) [-]
i was unaware there was a book 4 for unless you are talking about the durzo novel
User avatar #230 to #226 - KayRed (07/25/2013) [-]
No, we're talking about the A Song of Ice and Fire series (aka Game of Thrones). Brent Weeks did write a Durzo prequel Novella though, I own it, but I haven't read it.
User avatar #447 to #230 - tormain (07/25/2013) [-]
Ah yes I still need to get Perfect Shadow
#237 to #230 - mangham (07/25/2013) [-]

The series was written to be a movie (though I'd rather see Mistborn before that).
#148 to #147 - tormain (07/25/2013) [-]
and/ or these
User avatar #243 to #148 - azraelthemage (07/25/2013) [-]
What is this? The titles/covers intrigue me.
User avatar #449 to #243 - tormain (07/25/2013) [-]
The series is about 3 people Arlen, Leesha and Rojer. They live in a world where demons rise from the core of the earth to the surface every night to hunt and kill humans. The only defense the humans have are wards, symbols that convert the magic of demons into a unbreakable shield. This has everyone on their houses and humans don't go out at night because the ancient battle wards have been lost to mankind. Arlen the protagonist of the story sets out become a messenger, someone who travels between cities for trade and all sorts other things and the only people who sleep outside, and recover those battle wards.
