If I remember correctly, a "footong" is actually a brand name rather than the actual length of the sub.

How much is that in reasonable numbers?

I call conspiracy. He clearly cut an inch off the inner side of the left half to intentionally displease the Subway overlords.

It's divided in exactly the alf point. He would have to be really obsessed to measure a half inch in each side, cut it and fold the paper over it so it looks like just opened. But I'll thumb you up because I like the word 'overlord'.

Subway does not sell foot long subs it sells "footlongs"™ this is technically a made up term and can be whatever the **** they want it too.

Bread cooks, bread loses water, and shrinks. It might have been 12 inches before it was cooked, but shrank in the toaster.

As someone who actually works at Subway, I can confirm this. Sometime during the retardation process of the bread (That's where you cool the dough before popping it in the oven,) the baker ****** it up and didn't let it completely thaw. That's the reason the bread is slightly shorter. We normally have a thirteen inch proof we use to model the bread.

Does anyone else remember this is like growing on 6 months? Or a year old?

Subway already responded, and and apologized publicly for this. They went into stores and made sure the footlong sandwiches were in fact a foot long.

They however, have not apologized for skimping on everything but ultra cheap sauces and charging you a dollar extra for 1 extra slice of meat.

The reason I won't go to subway isn't the lack of length of bread, it's the fact I'm getting like $2 in actual meats and cheeses and being charged $3 for the rest.

For all fellow europeans... the "footlong" sub is only 11 inches long while it should be exactly 12 inches (= 1 foot) long

Making sammiches is a noble and honorable job. Where would the world be without sammiches?

Ok i work at subway i can take this.

Matt Corby what i always say to my customers to this question is life is noot perfect so is the bread deal with it we try to make it as long as possible at least i do, but it's a fast food franchise we want it to be faster not always it works out that speed goes along with quality.

Looks like it's squished together. Since there's one of those clear subway bags on the left, I'm guessing they carry it somewhere else. With the way the bags are designed, the sub was standing straight up and gravity took over from there while they walked, causing the footlong to become squished, thus smaller than a foot.
User avatar #19 - mrhighguy (07/23/2013) [-]
As someone who has worked at subway. it depends on how the person makes the bread.
