Because America is evil and supports food INDUSTRY. Monsanto. playing with genes, changing certain plants to be imune to their herbicides, so they can use herbicides uncontrolled in large quantities - all other plants die but not their precious gene manipultated monoculture. And we are forced to eat that chemical garbage, because meanwhile there is no more alternative or it d be so expansive we could not afford real food any longer. One day, their genetic manipulated nightmares will escape their labs and the USA will be responsible of destroying the worlds ecosystem with their genetic weapons.

I'm American and I absolutely agree. You can thumb him down, but he's right. This is completely true. They are patenting PLANTS. PLANTS. A corporation now owns a thing of nature. It's just like water. The big bottle corporations go into local communities, and, without permission, drain the area's entire water source, so that everybody is essentially forced to flee because their livelihoods have been destroyed. It's no secret; America values monetary gain over salvaging what's left of nature.

But you can make salad yourself from raw ingredients for a lot cheap instead of buying the pre-packed ones.

because fat, salt, sugar and wheat, are the cheapest ingredients you can find.
and that's ALL there is in the burger.
well, except the small amounts of milk in the cheese.

while vegetables are actually something you have to make an effort to grow, and they take time.
time is money.

Because vegans will pay anything to act like they're better than everyone else.

Why would you just assume he's American? There's people all over the world on FJ that speak perfect English and are well aware of the "Found the vegan!" thing. I'm English, but you wouldn't know that unless I talked about colours, armour, chips, etc.

if you are a moron that buys prepackaged meals it is going to be expensive regardless. Yes a pre-made salad is 5 bucks but you can buy a massive tub of fresh spinach for 5 bucks and make several salads.

The burger is made with 'beef' along with a sludge of salt and other chemicals that essentially turn it into a 'beef' hockey puck. They essentially water your beef down so they can transport it all across the country/world and make it the same price whereever you go.

Salads don't cost 5 dollars
Sure if you buy at a restaurant, but a salad shouldn't cost you more than 2 dollars total at home.
#34 - drillaz (07/21/2013) [-]
They cut enough corners in the McDouble to make it that price. (You can be damn sure it doesn't look that scrumptious in real life)

While the salad would not be healthy if they cut corners, and would not be profitable, so they jack up the price.

Or something.

I'm tired and not sure if this actually makes sense

Do we really have to ask ourselves why obesity is going up when we live in a time when pizza cost less than going to the gym.

What is cheap in money is expensive in calories, and vice versa.
