I really hate the ****** pity ********. This blind girl got most talented at my school or some **** like that, the only talent was that she could sing, but she wasn't very good. I didn't deserve it so im not mad at that, but someone else did.

thats a dark worldview based on zero information apart for your failures with pretty girls.

well we have no reason to assume this girl is a bad person, if anything it is impressive to take someone with down syndrome to prom, which generally is really important to shallow people. It also suggests she wont be going out and getting drunk and getting banged by some jock that night, which probably bodes well for her chances of being a decent person.

Since you had no reason to assume she was bad or would actually coast off her accomplishments, i went and assumed it was because she was an attractive female and you felt anger towards them. This also was a faulty assumption and may not be true.

The world is a dark place, but if you immediately judge people for doing good things, mother of god you are going to have a bad time with the horrors mankind is capable of.

saying "people like this" (direct reference to her) "will coast off of this one good deed for their entire life, thinking their self a saint."

that implies that she is one of those people and that she will think she is a good person because of it. Now a saint thinking they are a saint isnt a problem since its just a realistic view, its only bad if you are in fact not a good person. Since you said it in a negative way, it means you assume she will think she is a good person for having done that, while actually being a crappy person. that's passing judgement my friend.

not white knighting. my initial comment in no way defended her, just criticized your worldview.

doing something good and having it seen doesnt lessen the goodness of the act. if one does it only to be seen then perhaps it is less admirable, but we dont have a reason to believe this is the case (though it could be.) People generally do not do things for no return it is true, but then whats wrong with that? How many people do good just to do good, not for god, or to feel good about themselves, or to be thought of as good? I agree with you partially, that donating millions anonymously is more admirable than doing it publicly, or worse paying a PR first just as much to make sure it gets heard about.

I am definitely a cynic, but there is nothing to be cynical about given the information we have to go on. A nice girl seems to have made a special needs kid happy, and that is a good thing. The post was from someone else so we cant even know that she posted it on facebook to glorify herself. Being a negative nancy for no reason isnt the same as being cynical and realistic, its just being unpleasant and misanthropic.

(p.s. i just like arguing with people to pass the time, dont take any offense)

the way i see it is that Prom matters to girls as a life event. There are much easier ways she could have done a cutesy "look at me" nice act, but going to prom (you get 2 maybe 3 max in your life) with a special needs guy was a really nice gesture.

even if she did it for terrible reasons, look how happy he is. that alone makes it ok.

There's no need to feel down about that.
