The only reason Harry hated Snape was because Snape was an asshole to him and his friends. Snape's attitude towards Harry is childish and uncalled for. I think it's just Snape's childhood - everything from abusive father, being an outcast in Slytherin, and the 'popular kids' beating down on him - which developed his character in such a way.

dickish and uncalled for? it was totally necessary are you kidding me, if he was nice and sweet it would have blown his cover completely and not made any sense at all, you're retarded if you think that. He HAD to play the bad guy

You're the retarded one... Ignoring Harry completely, or treating him the same way he treated other Gryffindors wouldn't have blown his cover. Even being friends with him wouldn't have. Think about how Dumbledore saved Snape after Voldemort's first defeat, and how Snape lied his way out of that one. Severus Snape was a great double agent, and being close to Harry definitely would have helped always saving him. However... It played out like Rowling wanted to and I'm satisfied with that.

And no one said anything about being nice and sweet, if you read my earlier comment, I was trying to say exactly the opposite. That it's part of Snape's character to be an asshole to everyone.

I think part of the reason was that he must keep up the death eater act, so Voldy wont suspect him

...Which makes it totally okay for an adult man to bully 11-year olds. Right.
