When you usually first wake up, you'll often be in somewhat of a grumpy mood so your decision making and thought processes are going to be somewhat impaired.

This makes about as much sense as making important decisions with a boner.

What if I was deciding to try this or not?

My answer would always be "No" if I did that.

I would just think, "I'll decide tomorow." and then go back to sleep.

I probably won't understand what I wrote, since my handwriting is horrible seconds after I wake up.

One i sometime use, is when i have to decide between two things, i flip a coin on it.
Normally it's when it's flipping i know which one i want the most.

Or you can flip a coin, and you'll know which decision you really want based off which side of the coin you want facing up when it lands

i would decide to go back to sleep

While its true i don't think it applies to everyone. My fist response in the morning is to smash my alarm clock into unrecognizable pieces and i don't find that to be a good or reasonable decision at all.

Or flip a coin. While it is in the air you will realize what you want it to land on

it seems to me that when you wake up in the middle of the night, your brain is groggy and isnt firing at full reasoning capacity. This would be a bad time to make decisions as you are unable to fully grasp the implications of each choice. You will end up choosing the most obvious, brazen, or easiest path to take, or just take a random swing at the decision and go back to bed, ignoring the nuances of any other choices.

It would be bad to make a snap decision in your sleep. What the OP doesn't mention is that this should be a decision you've spent all day working on. Then, when your body is idling, your brain will try to solve problems.

When I was in college, I couldn't solve a calculus problem during a test, and my mind just couldn't give up not knowing the answer. I couldn't do it all day, but at night, I dreamt about it and solved it in my dream. I was so excited that it woke me up, at which point I wrote the problem out and found that what I did in my dream was the correct way to get the answer. I thought it was pretty cool...until I realized I dreamt about solving math problems.

you're more likely to pick the easiest way out and call it a night
