The technical term for a group of crows is "a murder", similar to how you have a pack of dogs or a pride of lions.
There are only two crows here, so it's not much of a group despite their efforts, so it's only an attempted murder.

Its really not so much "smart" people, as well read people or something. I mean, not everyone who is smart knows what a murder of crows is. (also, those are Ravens by the way) But either way, this joke makes no sense in any language but English, and I know plenty of people who are very intelligent, but probably wouldn't get this joke due to a limited vocabulary. Large vocabulary does not equal intelligence, even if the two are frequently associated with each other.

A murder of crows is the collective noun. A collection is more than one of something. there are 2 crows in the op so therefore this picture is actually a murder of crows. there is no "attempted" about it.
A "pair" no matter how much you disagree, is still a group. A SMALL group, but a group ne'er the less.

See I thought of "Murder of crows" which made me think that murder meant like a swarm.

But I guess it just means a grouping of crows.

I though I had it until I read the comments.
I thought it was a reference to Edger Allen Poe's "The Raven"
The one quote in the poem that says, "Quote the raven, nevermore."
I made the connection that dead people tell no tales, and the crow on the left had that look in his eye, like he was about to kill the one on the right.

But then I read the comments and I realized that I'm that special kind of retarded.

It took me a full minute of reading and rereading this before I got it. But I did, I sharply exhaled from my nose in a manner resembling a bull
