Whenever someone posts something like this, I feel compelled to comment how the Judeo-Christian Satan is one of the most under-appreciated mythological/religious characters in human history in terms of how much we can sympathize with him....he did not start out intrinsically evil, he just wanted to have some small respect and power of his own, and for that, he was cast down

To be fair, Satan did have power and respect. And he was a ******* dragon.

But the problem was the - "I will exalt my throne above the stars of God" - kind of attitude that he often displayed. He was a very spiteful, power-hungry angel.

If you believe the mythos.

Satan already had power. In fact, he was the most powerful of all the angels, but he wasn't satisfied with second-best. He challenged God, an omnipotent being who can not be overcome. He was punished for his arrogance with banishment from Heaven. Considering that God could have wiped him from existence with no more than a thought, I'd say he let him off easy.

If you look at this in a modern view, we can compare it to government. Let's say the Vice President didn't agree with something the President was doing (in general terms) and decided that a change was in order. Would it be completely irrational for the Vice President to attempt to overthrow the current government in order to achieve something that he viewed as positive progress?

Wasn't Satan basically second-in-command in Heaven? I'd say he had it made.

Lucifer and Satan are different things
Lucifer was the one cast down to hell
Satan was just always there

Lucifer is the Morning Star. He was given the name Satan during the Dark Ages essentially to frighten the ignorant populous. This was also when he developed the monstrous appearance ( He typically doesnt look like this)

you should read "Paradise lost." It's all about how god is often selfish.
