User avatar #74 to #72 - dogziller (07/12/2013) [-]
don't you know how some stores work? they'll keep stuff on the shelves until it get sold, not replace it with new stuff. that's what they do. i see tf dark of the moon stuff at my local toys r us still.
User avatar #61 - harbingerwolf (07/12/2013) [-]
In toys r us there is some cheapy knock off toy gun thats already like a lancer. Suprised they got away with it.

Most sci-fi movie and show weapons are just painted nerf guns.
#31 to #30 - tomthehippie (07/12/2013) [-]
I've worked on movie and show sets as a guard... and wrong. Normally they are molded rubber, save for main characters, or those that are going to be zoomed in on, then they are (normally) die cast metal, if not real working weapons with the firing pin removed.

Movies (especially) don't mess around man.
#36 to #31 - Hightower (07/12/2013) [-]
Well if you had worked in the prop department you may have seen them painting nerf guns.
The Longshot is one of the most used guns in sci-fi.
Judge Dredd's lawgiver is a painted Recon cs-6 with some led's added.
Terra Nova, one of the most expensive tv series ever produced used nerf guns for just about every weapon on the sho (pic related)
The list really does go on, and the information is available on the internet.
#56 to #36 - anonymous (07/12/2013) [-]
You should check out Man at Arms on youtube. It's about this guy with a lot of experience making weapons for various movies, and each episode he picks a famous movie/game weapon and makes it from scratch.
#59 to #56 - Hightower (07/12/2013) [-]
Thank you anan. I will check that out.
#37 to #36 - tomthehippie (07/12/2013) [-]
In scifi sure, mostly because they look more scifi. But in other genres not so much.

And even then, there are many scifi movies that are portrayed in modern day, but with aliens and **** , so the "futuristic" weapons are quite often nerf guns, the "modern day" weapons are often as I said.
#38 to #37 - Hightower (07/12/2013) [-]
Which would be why I phrased my original comment as "Most Sci-fi movie and shows".
#40 to #38 - tomthehippie (07/12/2013) [-]
My bad. Have a thumb.
#41 to #40 - Hightower (07/12/2013) [-]

#43 to #42 - Hightower (07/12/2013) [-]
I don't think this can happen... We disagreed and didn't devolve into a name calling hate fest... I don't think the internet will stand for this.
#44 to #43 - tomthehippie (07/12/2013) [-]
It can. It has. May the internet gods have mercy on our souls...
#45 to #44 - Hightower (07/12/2013) [-]
I'm scared...
User avatar #13 - ArtifactMind (07/12/2013) [-]
am I only one who noticed the custom nerf lancer is backward?
User avatar #17 to #13 - masdercheef (07/12/2013) [-]
It doesn't seem to be. The orange bit that you probably saw as the barrel is just the locking mechanism to keep the stock in place.
#19 to #17 - ArtifactMind (07/12/2013) [-]
I'm not looking at that.
I didn't say the nerf gun itself. Read my sentence again.
User avatar #25 to #19 - dvdfaust ONLINE (07/12/2013) [-]
At that point it's not attached.
User avatar #22 to #19 - masdercheef (07/12/2013) [-]
Oh, I didn't know you meant the chainsaw bit when you said "lancer".

Instructions on how you made it?
User avatar #7 to #6 - ilikelolz (07/12/2013) [-]
I didn't make, I just found it on the internet, but they're are many people who post videos on making these if that helps
#5 - studbeefpile (07/12/2013) [-]
The boxy shape of the toy more fits a Retro Lancer in my opinion.
User avatar #20 to #5 - mythichyphen (07/12/2013) [-]
But the retro-lancer sucks ass
User avatar #32 to #20 - studbeefpile (07/12/2013) [-]
Not if you know how to use it.
User avatar #33 to #32 - mythichyphen (07/12/2013) [-]
I'd rather stick to the Lancer/Gnasher combo when I play online
User avatar #34 to #33 - studbeefpile (07/12/2013) [-]
I use both, depending on what sort of map I'm playing on. If it's small like Checkout, or Raven Down, I'll use the Retro. If it's a big map like Aftermath or Anvil, I'll use the Lancer.
User avatar #35 to #34 - mythichyphen (07/12/2013) [-]
It's just a shame that hardly anyone plays online, i once saw 34 people playing in my area and just over 200 players worldwide.
User avatar #54 to #35 - studbeefpile (07/12/2013) [-]
Do you live in the mountains or something? I usually see about 1000-1500 people online.

Anyway, the real shame is people using spongey characters all the time.
User avatar #70 to #54 - mythichyphen (07/12/2013) [-]
I live in Ireland, apparently no Irish people like Gears online.
And what do you mean 'spongey characters'?
User avatar #76 to #70 - studbeefpile (07/12/2013) [-]
Some characters can take more damage before dying or being downed, and some characters also have smaller hit boxes because they have smaller character models. These characters include -but are not limited to- Bernie, Sam, Anya, Classic Cole, Alicia, the Kantus, Myrrah, and the spongeyest of all *drum roll* the Savage Kantus.
User avatar #77 to #76 - mythichyphen (07/12/2013) [-]
I was not aware of this, I personally use Bearded Dom
User avatar #78 to #77 - studbeefpile (07/12/2013) [-]
I like the Onyx Guard, Tai, and Clayton.

What level are you?
User avatar #79 to #78 - mythichyphen (07/12/2013) [-]
I think like 48 or 49 or something, what about you?
User avatar #81 to #79 - studbeefpile (07/13/2013) [-]

I live around DC. I have all of my nerf guns, and Airsoft guns painted.
#64 to #4 - babuger (07/12/2013) [-]
No black dildos for you, my friend.
User avatar #55 to #4 - schneidend (07/12/2013) [-]
Go silver, white, red, or gray. Mass Effect guns!
User avatar #46 to #4 - useroftheLOLZ (07/12/2013) [-]
You can paint it black, you just have to color one inch of the tip bright, neon, orange, showing that it is a toy, not an actual firearm.
#49 to #46 - anonymous (07/12/2013) [-]
what if i paint a real gun's tip bright neon orange? and then give it to some children in the park to play with it.... hmm actually not a bad idea
#26 to #4 - anonymous (07/12/2013) [-]
Paint it dark gray, almost like black, but legal.
User avatar #21 to #4 - jajathezombie (07/12/2013) [-]
Really? I do that **** all the time. My friends and I were making a zombie movie for a film class, and we got a bunch of toy guns and spraypainted them black to make them look realistic. We still play with them every once in a while.
User avatar #23 to #21 - skiskate (07/12/2013) [-]
Same. I was shooting a short film with friends and had an m4a1 and a m9 air-soft gun without the black tip. Somebody saw and called the cops, I got off with a warning
User avatar #10 to #4 - iqpwner (07/12/2013) [-]
DC? As in Washington DC? My man.
#8 to #4 - anonymous (07/12/2013) [-]
It's painted brown. Probably, from what I remember of Gears of war everything that wasn't blood was some shade of brown. It's probably just poor lighting makes it look black
#3 - windmillcrack (07/12/2013) [-]
sad its still a toy
