Actually, since stupidity isn't heritable (to the best of my knowledge) this would be an example of cultural selection, a similar process that works on ideas and actions rather than genes and physical traits.

I hate how the term 'Natural Selection' is misused constantly in the internet. Altruism and prosocial behavior is characteristical for the human species and therefor part of natural selection itself. In fact if we wanted to leave out obvious things like in this post consciously in order to let the 'dumb' humans die so we can realize a human ideal, this would be artificial selection.

I'm assuming that the warning is there to stop people allergic to eggs from eating any

Have you looked at a bag of peanuts?

Warning:contains peanuts

But what do the eggs contain?

No, no, you see my favorite thing is the Gluten-Free phase I see a lot of people going through these days. Companies have picked up on this and now they're just labeling everything. I saw a fucking bag of HARD CANDIES that said GLUTEN FREE in big letters across the package. It's like the company is saying, "Hey you're so stupid you should buy my stuff."

See I know there are people who actually have an intolerance to Gluten, but I figured if they do they wouldn't need a package telling them something is gluten free because I;m hoping they would know what fucking gluten is and what commonly contains gluten.

It's a legal thing. People can knowingly ingest peanuts and sue the company saying "the package had no warning", even when it's blatantly obvious that it is fuckin' peanuts.

It has nothing to do with the manufacturer. By law in first world, Caucasian countries (no idea about the rest) they have to state if it contains allergens regardless of the label

There was a product recall of bags of nuts in a shop in England because there was no 'May contain nuts' warning on the package...

Never thought ingredients were the same thing as warnings.

It has that warning for vegans.
But then, if they don't know that there are eggs in there without that, then they have bigger problems than cheating their diet.
