Americans use line much more than queue, but I think the vast majority of us know what it means and are indifferent to it being used in the place of line.

I use both depending on the type of queue (Groceries store is line, theme park queue, Online queue, DMV line) I can't explain why I use one instead of the other though

I'm American and I call them lines

But I use the word queue when I'm referring to things waiting to happen on my computer, like print jobs and torrents and stuff like that

It amazes me the amount of words Americans don't use

We use "Queue" when it's more of a list of people who are waiting for something. We use "Line" When people have lined up waiting their turn for something.

No, most of us know that word, and a lot of us use it.
#29 to #24 - anonymous (07/10/2013) [-]
Ehh. I wouldn't say a lot of us. Most people use line.

Well, actually, I've seen people use line when it's a real, physical line, like a line at the DMV. A queue i've been seen used if there is no actual line, like an online queue.
User avatar #17 to #10 - italianrambo (07/10/2013) [-]
Nope, lines.

although queue is still used in some video games (like LoL)
