Wish I could find some damn work in the industry. I finished my study in February and was top of my class, but I still can't find any design jobs in Queensland, that don't require 4 years of prior experience in a design house. All I've found so far were ****** paying commissions which worked out to about 3 dollars an hour for the job. So now I've just finished my RSA, and I'll be looking for barwork, since I'm broke due to my education.

I do some freelance work, along with a part time job in retail. No college education for Design, or anything graphic design related. In fact, I didn't even take art as a subject for school. Makes great money for very little work! I find it hard to keep a steady flow of clients going though! I assume you do some freelancing? or are you employed full-time?

I'm not a graphic design major or anything (Math, stats, CS major) but a lot of graphic design jobs actually require knowing a few programming languages too (Java, Python, Ruby, PHP), majoring in Graphic design isn't enough, you need to prove that you are very skilled with something other than HTML and JavaScript...

thats how it is in the real world, you are competeing with the global market when it comes to computer jobs.

since you know about animation, what kind of animation is it? like cartoon animation or like video game animation? you can try and animate some videos for youtube or make an iphone app, if they get popular, youll be getting 10k a month. personal experience.

Just because you have a piece of paper saying you can do it doesn't mean you can do it well.

Graphic Design is one of the few careers that accept that logic, if theres someone without a degree that has better graphical skill than someone with it, then they'll get the job.

Its not like Architecture or Engineering etc, where you could be the ******** Engineer on the planet, but since you have a sheet of paper saying you passed didn't fail a degree, then you get hired.

Im not saying you're **** , i 've never seen any of your work, I'm just saying you should set up a portfolio and hand it into a few companies. For graphic design, thats a more efficient way of applying for jobs rather than application forms.

If you are good at what you do that is.

Some people seem deluded.
