I believe in America, if a house is believed to be haunted, it can drop the property value by a third. Which is sort of insane.

Unfortunately this is a thing. A house is less likely to sell if there are rumors of hauntings in the house or in any houses neighboring. Many real estate companies actually advertise about whether or not the house has had any past of unexplained "paranormal" activity.
