Referring to him as a "retiring Yankee pitcher" is an insult. That is Mariano Rivera, the greatest relief pitcher in the illustrious history of the game of baseball.

What's a pitcher? - your average eurofag

The person in baseball who throws the ball to the catcher for the batter to hit.

I was the most die hard tribe fan back in the 90's when Jim Thome, David Justice, Omar Visquel, Kenny Lofton, Manny Ramirez and those guys were all together... Now baseball just kind of sucks for me. It's like any time we can get someone decent a team like the faggot Yankees can buy off anyone decent we get because they have more money and can pay them more... Baseball needs a salary cap or something to fix the ******** .

Greatest "relief"?
No.
Even among starting pitchers he ranks amongst the highest.

(just sad to see his final season going down in smoke at the moment...)

Going down in smoke? 8.37 K/9IP, 29/31 Save Opportunities, 1.29 WHIP, 1.89 ERA. Seems pretty good for a 43 year old man in his final season.

No not him specifically! Mo is still the god-tier pitcher he always has been.

I meant the Yankees as a whole. (I know they were on a 5 game winning streak, I'm a huge Yankees fan, but I was referring to the 12 game losing streak they just got out of)

They actually just came out of a 6 game winning streak, and I know they've been poor lately, but never 12 in a row. They lost 5 then won 6. I do agree though, I wish the Yankees could give him a proper farewell season. Hopefully, they can make a strong post all-star break run once A-Rod, Jeter, and the rest of them come back.

As much as I loved A-rod back in the day, he's ******* done. His heyday in 09. Jeter, on the other hand, can hopefully come back and be the commanding bad ass he always has been.

Also, lets not forget the rest of the starting lineup on the DL

Say what you will about A-Rod, the Yankee's are lost at 3rd and could still use more depth in the line-up. No doubt he is on a decline and is nowhere near worth the 27.5 million dollars he is being paid, but he still has the ability to hit .275-.280 and slug 25+ homers as long as he stays healthy.
User avatar #65 to #64 - moooossseeee (07/08/2013) [-]
I'll agree on the .275 BA, but 25 homers? I doubt that. I give him 15 max.

Like I said, I used to love him, I modeled my stance when I played after him (and Tex), with good results I might add, but that doesn't change the fact that he's washed up.

But still, you have a valid argument in that they definitely need more depth. Jason Nix just doesn't cut it forever.
User avatar #68 to #65 - aflockogeese (07/08/2013) [-]
Think about it. Over the last 2 years, he has homered roughly once every 24.56 AB. If he gets 600 AB a year, that factors to about 24.5 HR a year. Take into account that he's played through injuries lately. If his hip and knee can stay in good shape, I don't think 25 is out of the question.

Sir, I don't know where you get your math but it is indeed hard fact. I'll concede.

Might I ask where you're getting them? Do you just keep track or are you researching as we speak? Either way, you've won my respect.

I keep track of a decent amount of stats, but I did research during our conversation just to get the exact numbers. You too have won my respect. I love talking baseball with people and you seem to have some very good views of your own. Happy to know I'm not the only FJer who follows baseball

Very good my friend. I haven't been keeping up as much as I normally do this season, but I do still read up on things quite a bit. And I quite agree lol
