First of I know what you said was a joke I just want to say why this could probably been done. It should not have "to much bite" I have a 44. mag that is a double action and that doesn't kick that much with 240 grain bullets I know it's not very comparable to a 50 bmg but bear with me, now I have found out through shooting enough ammo in it (and my muzzle loading pistol) is that pistols will jump a bit but most of the power is placed in your palm. Thats a single (the single action puts the balance a bit more in the front, were as a double puts it closer to the middle), also the cylinder is very long and the fifty caliber browning machine gun cartridge is a bottle neck cartridge meaning even more metal and thus even more weight at the front. What I'm saying is that much weight at the end and a proper two handed grip, someone could acutely shoot the thing without "killing them selfs".

why the hell did this get -1?
it's true as **** !
a barrett M107, or a M82 have extreme recoil reduction measures, like muzzle brakes, and internal springs, so your shoulder doesn't break and/or dislocate when firing.
a revolver cannot absorb that much recoil, resulting in the gun ripping your thumb off.
don't try this at home, kids.

Isn't there a special "grip" you have to do on revolvers to prevent that?
User avatar #12 to #11 - JoshOwnsAll (07/07/2013) [-]
not on a .50 BMG you don't
that one's gonna rip through your hands like a hot knife through butter

Take a second and think about this. A rifle on some sort of support, such as a bipod, will generally recoil backwards, because there's nothing trying to redirect it. However, as it's possible to fire 20mm shells from a shoulder-fired rifle without the fancy modern recoil reduction without injury, I would say .50 BMG isn't the most powerful round out there. Now, a proper grip on that revolver, the gun will recoil not just backwards, but upwards as well, because that's how your arm wants to go. It's why most automatic rifles also climb when fired rapidly and are only supported by the shooter, it's how your body reacts to prevent injury. However, this is still a dangerous weapon, because not only could a poor grip cause a literal headache, but due to just how much powder is in a .50 BMG round, the chamber may well explode, or come flying off, due to the gap between cylinder and barrel common to revolvers.

true, but it would be a terribly impractical gun nonetheless.
User avatar #147 to #51 - trostell (07/09/2013) [-]
I can't argue it ever being practical, but it is possible to fire it without doing serious damage to your own body, unless you shoot yourself or something stupid like that.

Sounds like you're about to have a bad time yourself too when you fire this baby in case of need.
User avatar #52 to #13 - JoshOwnsAll (07/08/2013) [-]
in a time of need I would keep another gun. a 9mm probably, you can fire accurately faster
