"Hey, my dad is coming back from war for one day on Christmas." I would like to take the day off and hang out with him"

"Well it will cost you $250"

Isn't it illegal to do that? If they don't work, they don't get payed. You aren't losing anything. I don't think you can take their money to not work.

It's in the contract they sign, so it's not illegal.

They're not being forced to sign it or anything.

Still, like notafunnyguy explained, you can't put something illegal in a contract and make it ok. If they put that in order to work here, you must steal the money from competing businesses, then the worker signing it doesn't make it ok to do

I know there are many places where employees work during the holidays, however the fine is the only possibly illegal part.

While we're talking about illegality, #20, I think is a COMPLETE illegal thing to do. Whoever was the notary for the contract should definitely be fired.

that's not how it works. contracts are used to define legal responsibilites , not sign away rights and pay. what if you get sick? you cant work in the kitchen if you're sick in the food industry. THATS illegal. as another comment mentioned, only #9 is actually a legally bindable condition
