Dogs are the superior pet. Forget cats, dogs are better.

I've owned several snakes. They are cool, and all, but a snake can't drop a tennis ball at your feet, rest its head on your lap, and bring a smile to a crying face.

"can't bring a smile to a crying face", apparently you didn't use him right.

I like both cats and dogs. But dogs will always love their owners. With cats it's kind of hit or miss. You either get a friendly, affectionate cat, or you get a demon cat from hell.

So, yes, dogs are way better in general.

Well, my experience with cats is it's not hit or miss so much as personality and how you treat it. If you've ever seen the Cat Whisperer it's generally the humans doing something stupid to the cat, like treating it like a toddler or confining it, which causes it to want to rip your throat out.

I currently have the most loveable, friendly cat in the world who is meticulously clean and loves cuddling anybody. She'll only lash out if you seriously frighten or corner her. My other cat is a more of a dog than a cat, doesn't care to bathe himself too often, likes other cats, and is high energy.

Of all my cats though (through my life of 18 years the family's had about 8 or so ) not one was a problem, even with small children who tortured them regularly. The only cat known for extreme hostility was a cat they had when I was a baby, and it was only geared towards veterinarians due to having not been knocked unconscious before they snipped his balls. Friendliest thing in the world to anyone else though.

Dogs can be destructive and vicious if not treated properly for their breed and energy level and overall just mistreated. It's the same with cats.
