Can I ask an honest question? In Germany, nobody gives a **** if you have fireworks every day of the year. In some parts of America, there are laws that forbid you to do that.

Freedom?

here in iceland there is a certain time where it is allowed but it is generally not allowed because they could be emergency signal flares.

exactly, i live in "Utah" a desert state in western U.S. and we had no rain since march, like not even a ******* cloud. so we have no moisture anywhere so if something catches fire like the face of one of our mountains it will spread faster than an STD in high school girls.

Just a cool story to throw in.
I live in Tennessee where it is mostly forest and he was shooting fireworks in the woods and made a huge forest fire about 40 meters from my house.

Yeah, like i live in Nevada, the high desert part. Lots of brush around. it's a ************* idea to light fireworks that could very realistically burn down your entire neighborhood.

We don't have fireworks every day of the year. It's only usually during summer and New Years when it happens.

My point exactly. You can't just start fireworking away whenever you feel like it. I ask you: What's freedom if it doesn't allow you to have a goddamn firework whenever you want?

No, here's the thing:

We *can* light off fireworks whenever we want. It's usually just around those times of the year when people start to do it.

The only places that really have a problem with people shooting fireworks off at any time, are usually places with dense foliage (wildfire risk) and places where homes and buildings are grouped close together. Even then, unless you're being extremely rude, like setting them off at 3am or something, or being reckless and blowing things up, no one is going to say much of anything. Police aren't going to come and demand you stop unless someone complains that you're being disruptive or destructive. Local government might pass a warning if the season has been particularly dry, and there's a high risk of fire.

Not to mention, they're really only widely available between June and August, around Independence Day. Some places will stock them for New Year's, too. That's not to say you can't get them, they're just more difficult to find as most general shops don't often stock them outside of the peak season, since they're not in high demand. There are specialty fireworks shops, though, that have them available all year round.

In general, though, there are no laws that govern when and where you can use fireworks - so long as you're not endangering anyone. Some cities might have noise ordinances, but even then you're not going to get in trouble with the law; they'll simply ask you to stop, and that's that. Now, the laws vary by state, because some states put a restriction on what kind of fireworks you can use within the state. Usually only illegally, "home made", or exploding types get regulated. For example, my state used to ban Roman Candles (the long tube fireworks that shoot balls of fire) because of the risk of fire, since there is a lot of forested area. They changed the law a few years ago. I get what you're saying though, there are more restrictions on the sale and possession of fireworks than there are on firearms.

Sorry for the wall of text, but hope that answers your question.

In finland you can have fireworks once a year or twice if you get a permission from the local fire department. any other case some grumpy old granny will call the police and you'll get a ticket...

Most of the places are to dry and the fireworks cause fires and its generally safer to let trained people do the big firework shows. In some places you can set them off yourself

You've gotten plenty of responses, but here's my two cents. For the record, though, 'nobody gives a ***** as in the police or the general public? Around me no one would care if I shot them off, they'd just think I'm a bit off. Although some places the public might not like the sound of fireworks going off, so they have laws and enforce them to keep down noise pollution. Also everybody else's reason for wild fires.

It's because with all the different nationalities and types of people we have here in the United States, we have an abundance of stupid people. These stupid people blow off their own hands so we have to make laws banning them because of said people.

That doesn't stop states like Alabama, though. They maintain their stocks of gloriously explosive eye-candy.

Most people that light fireworks are drunk high school senior idiots who aren't responsible enough to even light a firecracker, let alone a firework. Only a handful of dry states that are home to many bushes, grasses, trees, power cables/lines, etc. banned fireworks because of said retards. We don't want to risk a fire that can burn an entire block down to ashes. Imo, I find it retarded that they allow fireworks to be lit everywhere and all the time, considering that Germany IS one of the biggest beer-consuming countries on Earth.
