Well, the only explaination I have is the following.

In germany, crab means Krebs. And Krebs has two meanings:

1. A crab
2. Cancer.

So maybe she wanted medicine for cancer, but didn't know the right word and thought that in the english language, you can also use crab as a word for cancer.

(I don't know spanish, so it could be that in spanish language you have the same problem as in german language.)
