Yea, the suggestion of disabling rather than repairing the alarm is kinda suspicious.

Not everyone works 9-5, there are those with night shifts or even shifts in the later day that run into the night so they need to sleep past 8 AM to get rest for the day to come.

Regardless of people being up or asleep it's still annoying and disrespectful to have your car alarm going off every day.

Also if somebody has a baby sleeping then it's sure to wake up...and that sucks.

have car alarms ever actually prevented anything from getting stolen from a car? from what I see it just pisses everyone off around it

No, there is no record that I can find that proves that a car alarm has ever stopped a car from being stolen, robbed, or vandalized.

that's because when someone goes to steal the car and the alarm goes off, they pretend like nothing happened and walk away.

I knew a group of people that stole from cars and always checked if the cars had alarms, and if they did, they wouldn't attempt a theft.
Even if they pretend nothing happened or that they didn't do it, what's the point if you're not going to get anything? The second that car alarm goes off, it draws a lot of unwanted attention to them and they can't attempt to do anything but move along.

I don't know how it is for everyone else, but for me the most important part of the alarm is the sign and the blinking LED. A random burglar sees the car has alarm, he won't touch it. If someone wants to steal your car or what is inside of it no alarm will help... but it prevents the retarded night car hoppers from touching your precious car...

my neighbors car alarm went of 3-7 times a day. When I went and told him he said that he never hears the alarm so I am wrong. His car no longer has an alarm installed I made sure of that.
