Why are random people who have clearly never played the game saying "hurr cursing gets you sent off how gay lol"?

It shouldn't/doesn't get you sent off unless it's directed at the referee, and even that is flimsy. I can't remember the last time I played a match and didn't swear and I've never been sent off for it.

You can get sent off for: "Abusive/offensive language and/or gesture" if it is directed at anyone. Referee, opposition, spectator.

Don't get me wrong, you CAN get sent off for a multitude of things, but again, I swear at the opposition on a match by match basis and I've been playing for ten years now, not a single red.

What level do you play at man? I am 19 and have only played youth and amateur football in Scotland Tayside region. I have noticed that most referee don't care that much or if you are young they let it go.

I remember I got annoyed at someone when I was 14 years old and last minute of the game, the striker was one on one, I went in from behind (able to win the ball) but fully went for his ankle. It was a edge of box free kick and stupid thing to do, but I only got a caution. Cause referees even said then: "We don't like sending the young ones off."

I'm 20, just finishing university so i've been playing for them this season. Good standard though, borderline semi-pro anyway.
When I played for my youth team we saw pretty much no red cards until we reached 15/16/17.
Despite how much bad rap referees get, they are usually quite fair when it comes to reds.

Yeah, that's true man, my team is finished youth now and we are entering Sunday Amateur league. So will probably expect a big change from there.

I played one game of Sunday League last year for my mate's team when I was back for Easter... quality was a massive drop from youth football, it's quite shocking.
You'll still get the odd few guys who are good but can't be bothered to play higher and whatever.
Obviously it depends what the standard is like near you for Sunday league, but it's definitely one that takes time to adjust to.. and I didn't want to!
Also if you've played together at youth level and are moving straight into a league you will have a massive, massive advantage. Most teams struggle to get an even remotely similar 11 out every week. Disjointed.

Well we have a cup game second week of August as our first match. Eyes will be on that.
