sorry, but there is something i need to get off my chest about all these riots. a dutch was raped by five guys in Cairo during these riots. and you know what? they filmed it. it's on ******* YOUTUBE. you don't believe me?

www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=snw8UMCz9Qw#at=28

this is what this breeds. it doesn't shout out for the universal unity of men and women fighting under a banner of oppression, that they want to free themselves of. it doesn't signify the ending of a great injustice. you know what this is? this is human nature. sickening, foul, human nature. no matter where you are, no matter what you ******* do, they will be those who take advantage of what's happening. there will be those who want nothing more than to fuel their own ******* greed and sick pleasures.

I'm probabably wrong but if millions suddenly protested on the streets of Norway, the ones doing the sexual assaults would be immigrants.

its so messed up that people will take advantage of an otherwise peaceful protest to let out their anger and generally be a dumbass. In my hometown, there was a peaceful march against police brutality during the "Occupy" movement. 50-75 peaceful members marching for awareness and nothing more were soon joined by a handful of rioters/looters/dumbasses who wanted to take advantage of the situation and get away with doing stupid **** . Thus the march was deemed a "violent riot" and many people were arrested for being present while the assholes got away. So who was blamed for the damages and other things caused by this handful of hooligans? The pastor who organized the otherwise peaceful march for awareness. Bam. the ********* win again.

I watched that video like 6 times and I didn't see anyone being raped. Yes there was a woman being sexually assaulted and yes a rape may have occured but I don't think that video should be used a proof of a rape because it doesn't actually show one. I'm not saying what happened was in any way good or justified just that that video shouldn't be shoved in peoples' faces as video evidence of a rape.

The same thing occurred to a reporter of CNN. In her case in particular during the original riots, some men yelled she is a Jew. Some Muslims view Jews as second rate, and she already had the low stance of a woman, meaning they could do whatever the hell they wanted and be justified.
Do not be confused by the Middle East (Syria, Libya, Egypt), these are the people that are coming in power. And these are the people Turkey is rioting against.

I find it hypocritical that people who are replying to you are questioning the legitimacy of the entire Egyptian movement because of this incident. I agree with everybody that the sexual assault. I refuse to acknowledge it as rape. She was not being raped. She was being sexually assaulted. It doesn't make it any more okay. However, it is less extreme. Anyways, back to the main point. In a case of mass protest such as this where there are 33,000,000 people out in the streets protesting, there are bound to be terrible crimes. That does not excuse these men. Yet there were MANY cases of rape and sexual assault in the Occupy movement. Yes, in a western and advanced country such as the United States, this exact same incident happened to many people. This does not put the protests' legitimacy into question because everywhere in the world there are bad eggs. These men in the Egyptian protests are ours.

there is a valid point brought up by simplelife. The point that he makes is that the middle east is lawless. this can be almost undoubtedly proven with the events of the last 10-20 years. this s why he calls for genocide, not just a simple rape... however harsh that may be i would also doubt his actual resolve on the topic of wiping out an entire race of people.

33000000 people are rioting. How is a single rape even statistically relevant? Do you know how many rapes occur daily in countries with a similar population?
User avatar #152 to #148 - jpg (07/02/2013) [-]
People protesting the allowance of a possible dictatorship (and therefore a lack of freedom) are raping a women (and therefore taking away her freedom of sexual choice).

A hypocritical riot isn't the best way to push your aims.
User avatar #159 to #152 - bullbrigade (07/02/2013) [-]
Are you retarded? What part of "statistically relevant" don't you understand? How does the inexcusable behaviour of a totally negligible fraction of the protesters make the riots less legitimate?
User avatar #174 to #159 - jpg (07/02/2013) [-]
Statistically speaking, most rapes don't occur with hundreds surrounding a single person and none (or very few) of them are trying to help.

User avatar #190 to #174 - bullbrigade (07/02/2013) [-]
First of all, I'm very impressed at your observation skills: in a video in which one can barely make out what's going on, you can recognize who's trying to help and who's taking an active part in the rape.

Let me put this as simply as I can: there's MILLIONS of people rioting, and as in every riot in history there will be people trying to take advantage of the chaos for their own interest. It's bound to happen and it has nothing to do with the legitimacy of the riots themselves or with the goals they can achieve. It is of course very sad when things like this happen, but it can only remind us of our flawed nature.

Mikael, i am Egyptian, and i would like to say i am very sorry about this sort of thing. its ******* shameful and cant be excused. however Egypt is a country like any other which has both its share of good and bad people. this fact is further highlighted but the lack of education and so on. and i crowds that big its real difficult to control any sort of situation and the sick people of Egypt thrive on this. i just hope we get a chance to better ourselves and to have a rest from this chaos. and for what its worth quite a few of the shouts in the video were people trying to help the girl out and telling people to leave her be its just the chaotic nature of such a press of people that makes preventing such things very difficult. just hope with me for a better egypt and a better world in general.

Less than one statistically. Though we are godless scum. This doesn't happen in civilized countries. There was whole bunch of people who didn't stop them. And they didn't even fear that someone might feel it objectionable. This tells alot about the society.

The whole thing is about supporting the protest is about supporting your independence from the west. But apparently, arab world isn't ready for it and should have remained a colony as seemingly only british rifles and captured government could keep you from being animals.
User avatar #203 to #102 - TarnRazor (07/02/2013) [-]
Animals? What you think rape is normal and just happens on the sidewalk? No. It's still a terrible crime. I am Egyptian and I am not uncivilized. Sure we have a long way to go but so did any society. Besides, it's Europe's ******* imperialism is why Africa is a ******** to begin with. This was a terrible atrocity where a mob of scumbags took an opportune moment and it WAS stopped. I heard a guy yelling for help in the background. I have no doubt in my mind that the rapists were then attacked.
#260 to #203 - anonymous (07/03/2013) [-]
Techincally speaking, Africa is a **** hole because Imperialism was removed too early. Imagine giving people guns, resources, books, cars, artillery and all other kind of ****** up things and then just leaving(forced by "UN" post WW2).

The Congo had ONE university graduate when the country was forced to become independent. You know what his degree was? French Literature.

I'm not saying imperialism is a good thing, but imperialism cut short is a far greater evil. The countries which rebelled out of choice and gained their independence on their own tend to be a lot better off now than Africa. I know you've got your own mindset with this, as hating Imperialism suits your ideology, but I'm from Kenya and I've seen what the lack of imperialism did.
User avatar #279 to #260 - TarnRazor (07/03/2013) [-]
I have a specific mindset, yes, but I can change my opinion in a heartbeat.

Yes, the fact that Imperialism was cut off ravaged Africa. If Imperialism hadn't come to be in the first place, Africa could have been better off in my opinion. However, Egypt is struggling to break out of its shell as a third world country and attempt to adapt to the world's changing scheme rather than wallow in its ancient societal values and semi-medieval lifestyle. The sexual assault you see in the video happens in protests worldwide. You could say it's strange to have a protest without a rape or sexual assault. The Occupy movement had several reports of rape worldwide. It is not Egyptians or Arabs. It's mankind. We have so much potential but we're too idiotic to put it to good use.

Which is, admittedly, a terrible sentence. But what is says, I'm pretty sure, is that you feel like the media can't/doesn't/shouldn't report on the rape of this woman because it isn't "big" enough. At the same time, our [American] media is reporting on a stupid couple naming their baby something stupid and is busy giving special interviews on "whether cracker or the n-word is worse."

And yes, I agree with you. Kanye West got the attention because America cares more about him than the middle east; that does not mean that the naming of his baby is more important than someone getting raped. That doesn't mean that the debate over "cracker" or " ****** " is more important than violent riots that are being generally reported as peaceful. Your originally comment did not say anything about popularity. If that is what you meat, then your original comment should have been "Because the people of America don't give a **** " not "because the media only focuses on the bigger events in the area."

Yes, there are terrible people in the world. Some people are. It is not right, but it is also something that cannot be changed as we don't control other humans' thoughts or actions.
I don't see how that abolishes what everyone else wants and is fighting for. It doesn't make the government any less controlling or filled with greed. We can't even afford a proper fire department here or fix the roads well, but the politicians can own a private jet to fly anywhere they want, completely secluded. They take what they want and when they can't cover things instead of giving up the excessive amount they take they tax the people even more. Now if they do that, but a few guys rape a girl suddenly we can't have righteous outcry against them? It is very terrible to do, yes. I just don't think that instance relates to the big picture of things.
I couldn't really see anything either, but for the sake of things I'll side with what was claimed happened.

Tourists Raped in India A Dose of Buckley

replace India with Egypt and this is very related

if you think you can walk into a lawless horde of horny, sexually repressed, uneducated, and uncivilized men, in a country where woman are (recently in relative terms) not considered property but are still treated like it and not get raped. Then you deserve it.

These places are not tourist spots, they are developing parts of the world where you can easily be killed or worse with out any warning or reason just because they can

Saying someone deserves **** like that is a bit to harsh but she indeed made a very stupid mistake.

it's hard to tell what is going on in that video. you just see the title and assume it's what happened without ever being there.

at the 52 second mark you can clearyl a white skinned woman in complete misery crying with a guy forcing a kiss from her. this is happening in Cairo. forget what you're being told by the media, it's not some great revolt against an unjust system, it's just humans being filth and taking advantage.
