Only a kid would agree with this. Any adult would know it's your responsibility to account for possible accidents. Which is why you don't wait until last minute and you always back up assignments.

Looks like not everyone on FJ is a 12 year old. Plenty of people know it's smart to backup. Even if you don't have a flash drive just email it to yourself so you have a copy saved online.

As an engineering student, backing up work is CRITICAL to the curriculum. If you don't back **** up then you deserve to lose it. End of rant.

>Doesn't backup your work
>Blames it on the teacher

>Download google drive (You could do dropbox as well, but drive gives you an extra 3GB)
>Install the program
>save all important files into the google drive folder (I.e. assignments).
>You now have a real-time backup of all files in your drive folder.
>Never lose files due to a crash again.

Seriously, it's 2013, there is no excuse for losing your work. If you were in the working world, you would get penalised if you lose an important assignment.

Well, that's a free lesson on the fine art of performing a valid backup!

Not to play devils' advocate here, but she has a point. You'd be surprised how many people use that as an excuse. Unless you can provide evidence that you actually did something maybe she'd reconsider, but just saying everything's conveniently gone won't convince anyone.

No no no.
The correct example is:
"By the way. I know you already turned in that massive paper you wrote over the course of the term but I've gone and lost it. Since today is the due date I hope you can scrounge up the final draft and print it out for me by the end of the day without going home."
