there's no way this isn't legit

How could you prove it?

well if space smells like seared steak, hot metal and welding fumes, that isn't that far fechted.

Actually, it's true. Ethyl formate has been confirmed to present in the centre of our galaxy. This is the chemical that is responsible for the taste of raspberries and the smell of rum.

I have been lead to believe at the center of our galaxy is a massive black hole. Would it be the area AROUND the black hole that tastes like raspberries and smells like rum?

No way this isn't legit is a double negative...

How can you confirm this? For me the entire meaning of the word confirm means that somebody's been up there and smelled and tasted it. For example, the astronauts who smelled space confirmed that it smelled like steak and **** .

That's silly. If you see a big pile of poo across the room you can reliably guess that the poo will be smelly without going and sticking your face in it. Likewise if there are molecules of poo in the center of the universe identical to our own we can assume that they will also posses pooey qualities.

Assume but not confirm??

It's something to do with the light spectrum. Every type of atom absorbs a certain amount of light. If they look at the centre of the galaxy and note which wavelengths of light are missing and in what amounts they can figure out the content and amount of the atoms of the thing they're looking at; and work out the molecules present.

Or something like that...

I still don't understand how we can find that out, but still have troubles finding water on Mars.

Well, technically we have found water on mars, in the form of ice, and small amounts of water vapor in the atmosphere.
