I'd love to watch it, but 600+ episodes is one hell of a commitment.

One Piece had a good number of fillers, maybe around fifty to a hundred, all of which I skipped.

50,51, 54-60, 93,98,99,101,102, 131-143, 196-206, 213-216, 220-226, 279-283, 317-319, 326-336, 382-384, 406-7, 426-429, 453-458, 492, 497-499, 506, 542, 575-578

one piece actually had a lot of filler, but it was spread inbetween huge arcs, which sort of created a cooldown period.

I feel dumb but.... filler episodes?

A "filler episode" is an episode that does not have directly to do with the main plot of the story or are there just for comical relief and/or character build up.

Usually you can identify these episode by the next characteristics:

-They didn't exist in the original comic/manga/game/book.
-They take part somewhere in between main events but have almost no important dialog and could easily be cut of the series without noticing.
-Beach episodes with bikinis
-Fanservice and lame jokes.

Fun Fact: Exactly 40% of the original Naruto series are fillers.

My stance on fillers
If you read the manga like a boss, or even just google it, you'll know which parts are fillers
The reason fillers happen is because the show catches up to the manga and have to wait for more before they can continue it
At this point you have two choices, don't watch the fillers and it'll be like they never happened, or watch them anyway because the manga hasn't progressed anyway so what other choice do you have?
But yeah Naruto has had more than its fair share of fillers

I never really got why the one piece currency changed from Beli to Berries after the timeskip, was it just a translation issue?
User avatar #59 to #53 - bigfriendlyginger (07/01/2013) [-]
More of a translation thing yeah. it's like how some fan subs confuse L's and R's, like how really ****** fan subs called Luffy "Ruffy" for a while.

***** for every filler arc one peice doesn't have it makes up for with the longest most drawn out fights I have ever seen.

One Piece is one of the only long running shonen with decent filler arcs. It is offset by how slowly the actual arcs move sometimes, but it is still one of the best shonen ever made so far
User avatar #62 - jinxbomb (07/01/2013) [-]
it's not that it's not got filler, it's just really well hidden inbetween arcs.

Know what pisses me off more? Anime that started being made right after the first volume of the manga came out, but go much farther than the manga, and have a different story and ending from about the 5th episode on. (Hellsing, Fullmetal Alchemist) Then when they make another series that sticks to the manga directly, my heart leaps with joy. (Hellsing Ultimate, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)
