Depends on the snack actually, say it was a free mini candy bar. You have to walk a football field (down and back I believe) to burn off the calories of a Single M&M. If it was anything less than candy few people would do it. If it's too much exercise too many fat people would be too humiliated to do it.

Depends on how much you natuarally burn. When they say that you need to walk a football field etc. To burn off this and that, they are exluding the energy your body needs to even be on, they are just counting the amounts of energy you would need to actually walk the field. Don't forget that the heart, brain and all your intestines are always working and they do need a lot of energy to even stay on. I myself burn a lot by doing nothing, I can eat pretty much whatever I want even though all I do is sitting still infront of my computer doing nothing. I have some stomach fat but I can see my untrained abs when I haven't eaten.
